This is what I carried in my 3" Model 65 when that was my carry gun.

I use the Speer GDSB 135 gr .38 +P in my 2" Model 49 as that round was designed for short barrels.

In the old Nyclad round.

Wow.  So I am not the oldest one up at this hour.  At least no one started talking about SuperVels.

I haven't seen that .38 Nyclad round in years.
they are a soft piece of lead, though. If I could find some, I'd probably buy them.

I do have a bunch of Federal Nyclad 9mm 124 grain. I wouldn't hesitate to carry them in my glocks, if i was out of my usual +P JHPs.

I've still got a few of Federal's +P 158gr Nyclad Semi-Wadcutters and HP's

This.  I wouldn't necessarily feel outgunned.  Shot placement matters.

why does everyone always assume that their target will cooperate and allow this amazing "shot placement"?

every single shootoput I've ever seen on video or even heard about  was just a crazy spray bullets, everyone trying hit the other guy while not being shot.

people even get shot in the foot

strictly speaking,  if you had a big battle between 1000 guys who were trained to shoot for COM and 1000 guys who were vainly shooting for a "one shot kill" and all that crap,

my money would be on the COM guys

this is the only correct answer.

This isn't 1986 anymore.

Speer Gold Dot 135 gr +P

I'm putting my J-frame up for sale this week, though.  I have no use for a revolver anymore.  The limited role it served for me before has been filled by a G26.

Is it still 1970?

Assuming that the revolver is not a snub-nose, wouldn't the old 158-grain LSWCHP +P still have enough velocity to get the 12" of penetration & expand? Therefore still making it a perfectly fine choice.

The only issue I remember with the 158 FBI load is that it doesn't have enough velocity in a snub nose to do that. Which is why the Speer 135-grain Gold Dot Short Barrel would be preferred.

I carry Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWCHP in my 642.
Speer's Gold Dot SB +p is the back up ammo...

Both offer serious thump from that little gun.

Isn't that the case in Northern Ireland?

You can only legally carry .38 S&W special and hardball ammo if you get a permit?

One of my "wish I had" guns. A 3" 65 with a round butt. What a sweet gun.

I had one and sold it.
