Congratulations!

I'm struggling with the nasty ass habit myself.

ETA:  Did you use any patch, gum or pills?

I've tried the patch, it worked... and then I started smoking again. What really worked for me was Wellbutrin. I think I took 300mg a day for 4 days and then you stop smoking. It took away most of the cravings and helped me to not think about smoking. You normally take Wellbutrin for about 3 months.

Congrats. You did the right thing.

Only bad habit I ever missed.

I'll think of you when I pick up 500 cigarette butts after my 4th of July BBQ.

Bastards.

I'm king of the roll out and pocket the butt.

This is my first sizeable BBQ in 4 years.

We had a massive annual one for 5 years in a row and I stopped it mainly because of the butts.

Not just the picking them up hassle but the total passive agressive disrespect of the whole thing.

I bought 5 office size trash cans and filled the bottom with sand and put "Butts here please" signs on them.

I still found butts all over the property for months. WTF?

I built up a supply of snus with the free coupons. Then one day I quit smoking and used nothing but the snus, after about two months I weaned off the snus so I've been nicotine free for about four months now.

I was smoking two packs a day.

Yikes! That's quite an accomplishment kicking that.

Good for you!  I quit about 7 years ago.  Now I can't stand the smell, although I still dream about smoking sometimes.  I carried a pack of little mints in my pocket, which helped a lot.  Stay strong!

I used various tic-tac flavors as well.

I am on my second month myself.  I am using skoal mint pouches for cravings but i fear i may have traded one devil for the other.  Although a can of pouches lasts me two too three days so at least its not a pack+  per day like the cigs.  Congrats

Congrats, Bama!

I bought a couple e-cigs after reading a thread here:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=1152118

Well, last pack of cigs I bought was 2 weeks ago today. Went a week
without smoking a cig, and bummed one from the neighbor while we were
having a couple drinks last Saturday.

It.

Was.

Nasty.

Tried another later that night, and it was really gross.

Literally tastes like licking an ashtray...

It's been real easy to quit using e-cigs. There's a bit of a learning curve, and initial inverstment. But it's pretty cruisey once you get it dialed in.

Same here, once I get done coughing in the morning, especially in the shower, I feel great.  No problems at all.

I think the only way I could quit smoking is to be locked into a padded room for a month.

Chantix has some very bad ju ju going now, cancer in addition to all the other side effects.  Accupuncture almost worked, cold turkey, not so much, thinking of e-cigs instead now.

I find that very hard to believe, it's not like you take it for years.  Chantix worked absolutely great for me, yes you can have some weird dreams, but that's easily avoided by not taking it right before bedtime.  Other than that the only side effect I had was not wanting to smoke any more.
