Today starts month seven. I had struggled with smoking for the past 10-15 years. I have quit for a couple of months at a time only to go back to it but I think I have finally kicked it. The money I have saved from this has allowed me to purchase three suppressors and one SBR more donuts. Fixed it for you... I have not had a donut since March. |

Congrats. You did the right thing. Only bad habit I ever missed. I'll think of you when I pick up 500 cigarette butts after my 4th of July BBQ. Bastards. I'm king of the roll out and pocket the butt. |

Congratulations! I'm struggling with the nasty ass habit myself. ETA: Did you use any patch, gum or pills? I've tried the patch, it worked... and then I started smoking again. What really worked for me was Wellbutrin. I think I took 300mg a day for 4 days and then you stop smoking. It took away most of the cravings and helped me to not think about smoking. You normally take Wellbutrin for about 3 months. |

Have you noticed any increase in body weight/size? Yes. My diet really hasn't changed but I have put on a few pounds. The reason why I need to start running again. |

I'm king of the roll out and pocket the butt. This is my first sizeable BBQ in 4 years. We had a massive annual one for 5 years in a row and I stopped it mainly because of the butts. Not just the picking them up hassle but the total passive agressive disrespect of the whole thing. I bought 5 office size trash cans and filled the bottom with sand and put "Butts here please" signs on them. I still found butts all over the property for months. WTF? |

I did it for 28 years. Stopped cold turkey 3 months ago. Congrats

I built up a supply of snus with the free coupons. Then one day I quit smoking and used nothing but the snus, after about two months I weaned off the snus so I've been nicotine free for about four months now. I was smoking two packs a day. Yikes! That's quite an accomplishment kicking that. |
|
Congrats!
I recently passed the 1 year mark, I spend my savings on bullets and golf balls and Blue Moon |

Quoted: I'm coming up on week 2, so I have some catching up to do. you can do eeeet! |
|
Quoted: Good for you! I quit about 7 years ago. Now I can't stand the smell, although I still dream about smoking sometimes. I carried a pack of little mints in my pocket, which helped a lot. Stay strong! I used various tic-tac flavors as well. |
|
Congrats. Smoking tears apart your insides. If I had a nickel for every COPD patient I've taken care of, I'd buy everyone a SCAR-17
|
|
I am on my second month myself. I am using skoal mint pouches for cravings but i fear i may have traded one devil for the other. Although a can of pouches lasts me two too three days so at least its not a pack+ per day like the cigs. Congrats

Quoted: Quitting smoking is easy. I've done it at least 5 times. Congratulations. This. Good on ya Bama. Do you get the dreams about smoking too? |

Congrats, Bama!
I bought a couple e-cigs after reading a thread here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=1152118 Well, last pack of cigs I bought was 2 weeks ago today. Went a week without smoking a cig, and bummed one from the neighbor while we were having a couple drinks last Saturday. It. Was. Nasty. Tried another later that night, and it was really gross. Literally tastes like licking an ashtray... It's been real easy to quit using e-cigs. There's a bit of a learning curve, and initial inverstment. But it's pretty cruisey once you get it dialed in. |

I been smokin' 30 years. My lung feels fine. Same here, once I get done coughing in the morning, especially in the shower, I feel great. No problems at all. I think the only way I could quit smoking is to be locked into a padded room for a month. Chantix has some very bad ju ju going now, cancer in addition to all the other side effects. Accupuncture almost worked, cold turkey, not so much, thinking of e-cigs instead now. |

I didn't really take note of the date just decided one day that I had had enough saw the doc and hit wallyworld and bought a box of patches.. sadly the wife didn't make it... she only lasted about 2 months |

Congrats, OP. A wise and necessary move. I passed the 25 year mark on 03/01.

August 13th will be 2 years for me. I used to smoke like a train and now i'm the size of one. I've gained about 30 pounds and with my ankles and knees it's hard to get rid of it. Sometimes i forget i even smoked before.

Congrats, Thanksgiving was when I quit, so I just hit 7 months. I don't even want a smoke. I feel great.......but have gaind 20 lbs
|

Congrats on nicotine free Bama! I'm a week shy of 8 months. You really start to feel better just knowing your not doing that to yourself anymore.
|
|
Good job!
I quit January 15th, so I am a few days past my six month point. The last time I quit for 4 years, this time it's permanent. |

Quoted: I find that very hard to believe, it's not like you take it for years. Chantix worked absolutely great for me, yes you can have some weird dreams, but that's easily avoided by not taking it right before bedtime. Other than that the only side effect I had was not wanting to smoke any more. Quoted: I been smokin' 30 years. My lung feels fine. Congrats. 7 1/2 years here. I was about a 2 pack a dayer for 25-30 years.

Congrats.
Wish i could do it. Tried chantix and the patch...nothing. |
|
Thats next on my list.
I've lost 65 lbs and gained a massive amount of muscle, almost to my goal for this one. Smoking should be easy compared to getting in shape |

There is a nice e-cigs store called Vapors Lounge , near my class3 dealer.
They sell probably 100 different flavors , CamelBoro ,Capitan Black,Cappucino, watermalon, blackberry lemonade etc etc etc. Very nice this e-cig thing! |
|
It's great to read all the posts of people who have quit!
Congratulations to you all...hang in there! |

Nice Bama! I'm on day 3 without cigs or any kind of nicotine. I'm hoping it'll stick this time. This weekend is gonna be a challenge, but I should do ok if I don't get hammered.

Congrats. It's been a year and a half for me. I feel so much better, and I have more money.
I quit cold turkey, and haven't gained any weight. You just have to want to do it. |
