Anyone ever purchase a Ruger 10/22 from Wal-mart? I've been looking to pick up a Ruger 10/22 carbine, I found them at Dick's Sporting Goods and a couple other chains, but figured I would check Wal-mart. Their website doesn't show guns and I can't find anyone at the store that has a clue. You would think it wouldn't be hard to find out if they can get it if it's not on the shelf.

Bought a stainless one about six years ago. Paid $200 or so out the door for it. Still have it and no complaints.

Yup, bought a stainless model. Shoots just like any other 10/22, finish on the receiver was crappy paint, just just any other 10/22. I stripped the paint and polished.

I've called several stores. I've waited on hold for the better part of an hour total, been transfered numerous times and been disconnected even more. The short story is we don't carry it, we don't carry guns or I don't know what you're talking about.

Wally world also stocks Savage, and will generally order whatever you want for $10 (I think?) over their cost.

I don't see any advantage to buying at Walmart; 10-22s are cheap, so I don't think you'll save much. I got mine at Dick's for $200.

Yes, I bought a stainless carbine with a green/grey laminated stock back in 1994. Still have it, they sold hand guns back then too.

Funny thing is one of our local gun/fishing shops I caught buying Walmarts sale items and price hiking them at their store LOL.

I ordered a Sporter 10/22 through my local Walmart. I had to pay 1/2 up front and the other 1/2 when it came in a week later. The only hassle is that they treat the sale like a layaway, so in my case they had to walk me over to the jewelry department to handle the transaction.

My local wally world still sells guns, but the selction is not nearly what it was 7-8 yrs ago. I have bought a few rifles and shotguns there over the years, bought a beretta AL390 there once for $300

This seems to be the norm at all wallys. They treat the sale as if you were buying a 8" gun for a battleship, just don't make the buy if you are in any kind of a hurry.

Walmart is all about profit and maximizing their use of space. The store stocks what sells, if the product isn't profitable at that location, it's gone. There are two Walmarts in my town, the one by the Mall does not sell guns, the one on the edge of town does. A country Walmart I frequent in a small town near a lot of hunting is like a Bass Pro; tree stands with mounted animals on display, tons of guns and shooting equipment. A friend of mine in rural Nebraska buys reloading supplies at Walmart. Walmarts only corporate ploicy is "make a profit".

I'll bet that those of you whose Walmarts don't sell guns live in a "non gun" area, that is to say, not covered up with gun totin' rednecks.

Only an idiot would call Walmart "Commie" since they worship profit above all else. They are the antithesis of comunisim.

The owner of one with an indoor pistol range near me forever lost my business with his high prices, shitty employees, and his arrogant attitude. I buy plinking ammo at Walmart, defensive ammo or bulk rifle ammo online and transfer from online dealers through a kitchen table FFL for $10 or free if I can catch my other guy on the right day. The prick at the old shop charges $50 for a transfer. Brick and mortar stores are their own worst enemies.

Belleville Indoor Shooting Range is the name of the place and I would stand out front and laugh at the fat slag who owns the place on the day they went out of business if I had time.

I bought a stainless rifle one about five years ago and here's why...
The badly stained stock (finish color sucks) has a longer LOP than a carbine
Rubber butt pad
The stainless barrel is longer than a carbine.
Walmart guns have/had a black trigger group in the stainless guns....
Man sized.....
also stupid accurate with a good scope....

I bought a stainless/synthetic 10/22 from my local Wal*Mart in NW Houston a few years ago. I couldn't find a better price on it anywhere.

I bought one from them several years ago and it was a fiasco. They brought it out from the back and the SN on the rifle didn't match the SN on the box. I refused it and they went and got another one. Same thing...the SN's didn't match. They finally found one that did have matching numbers, so I bought it.

I reckon someone put a few up on display and didn't bother keeping track of what box went with which rifle.

The last 1022 I purchased was from WalMart about a year and a half ago. I have to admit, the 1022s being sold these days are nothing like the gun that made the 1022 famous. The stocks are cheap, the finish sucks (receiver and barrel), the threaded holes on the receiver used for mounting the site base are hardly deep enough to mount the provided site base with the stock screws. I have the "all weather model" which has a brushed finish on a stainless barrel and it already has surface rust on it. It's stored in the same place as all my other guns. It seems they aren't aiming for quality as much as they are for mass production. Very disappointed in Ruger for the new 1022s. I will not have this one for long. My vote would be for one of the stainless models sold 5-7 years ago. I wish I'd would have never traded the one I had after buying my current one.

Bought a Marlin .22 at a Co. Walmart a few years ago. The price was OK but the rest of the process was a total PITA. Store managers had to be called, regulation had to be consulted, and after about an hour and a half of waiting patiently standing around with my thumb up my ass I apparently required a perp walk like escort out the front door with my new purchase. Altogether it was a lame, boring, and slightly embarrassing experience.

I'm not a Walmart detractor in general, but I won't buy another firearm from Wallyworld unless there is no way to avoid it

I priced a 10/22 at a local gun shop (i.e. the only one that didn't habitually try and rip me off, ignore me, or be condescending towards me or my wife). They were $75 higher for a bone-stock 10/22 than Wal-Mart. $75 ain't much.... but it is when the rifle is $200. I went with Wal-Mart.

1) Not all Wal*Marts carry guns

2) there was a model that was WALMART ONLY with a 22 inch barrel and no barrel band.

3) Buying a NEW WalMart 10/22 you will end up with the plastic trigger group, if this bothers you. Same with any other NEW 10/22's.

I read an article where Wal-Mart has decided to bring guns back to many of their stores. Seems that the margins on gun sales are small but they will bring guys like me to the store and even if I don't buy a gun, I might buy other crap. Without guns and ammo, I seldom go to Wal-Mart.
