For whatever reason, I always used to check the chute tag to see who packed my chute.

I remember on one jump, I already had the chute laid out, ready to get into it, and then checked the tag. I shit you not, it said Mickey Mouse. Fuck that. That chute went back to the truck.

If you don't have the balls to sign your name to it, I'm sure as hell not jumping it.

Fuck yeah, I loved my job! I was a driver for two years then when I got a gunner's slot...the state of OH eliminated all the tanks except for one armor unit waaay up north.

I was an HT in the fleet 88-94, and a Seabee SW 91-present.

I have a bunch of NECs, which are basically like a secondary MOS. 9502 (instructor), 9545 (Naval Law Enforcement), 4956 (Nuclear Component Welder), and maybe 5 more that I don't remember offhand.

Loved it. Hated it. Did many enjoyable challenging things, did many stupid/repetitive/boring/dirty things. Given the opportunity to do it all over again... I would not change my MOS (well maybe if I could have gotten a cav scout slot).

15F Aircraft Electrician right now. After this deployment, I'm gonna need to re-class to make E5 so that'll probably be to 15U (Chinook crew chief), 91F (Small arms repair), or 35F (Intel analyst).

I was a MOS 97E - Interrogator/Linguist (Russian). The MOS is now 35M - Human Intelligence Collector. I imagine that it's a lot more interesting now than it was circa 1986-1991.

This is a staged photo from a dog and pony show at Camp Pendleton in 1993 (maybe 1994) but it displays essentially what we did. I took the photo; that's Sgt. Steiner on the ramp. I shook hands with the Commandants of the U.S. Marine Corps, Philippine Marines, and R.O.K. Marines (and their wives) that day.
