44 grain projectile, 2100fps, same projectie selection, readily available brass for reloading, and comes on a 1911 that can shoot 9mm just by changing the barrel.
5.7, you are dead to me. I liked your concept, but hated the limitations the idiots at FN placed on your design. Rot in hell you useless bitch. That is all. TR85. |
|
Well.. What does this new cartridge do that the 5.7 won't? how is it better? 44 grains at 2100fps doesn't sound all that impressive to me, or at least like it's a serious step up..
|

and the Horn Of Gondor is blown at the fivesevenforum
I can hear them coming with murmured chants of elite ammo elite ammo elite ammo .... |
|
Oh no he didn't!
How is it better than 30gr @ 2,300fps? eta: Did just google that. Me likey |

That is fucking huge. The lighter bullets should scream in .22TCM... But why use them? The requirement of using light bullets was a limitation with 5.7. 5.7 could not fit in the same gun as 9mm. .22TCM does. 5.7 is impossible to get new brass for. .22TCM uses .223Rem. Fuck 5.7, worthless bitch cartridge. TR85. |

I have never heard of this
Pics!!!! or its a figment of your imagination!!! |

May I ask what 5.7 did to you that was so horrible? Did a P90 sleep with your sister or something?
|
|
It's certainly interesting.
Quoted:
224 Boz for the win. 10mm Auto necked to .224. Which broke every gun it was tried in due to excessive bolt thrust. And didn't feed very well. I noted that this cartridge uses a much more gradual taper to the bottleneck, and is smaller diameter, to reduce those effects. |

Dig the ball cuts and slide bevel. Para Ordnance ought to be shitting their britches right now; RIA seems poised to kick them in the taint. |

I guess I just still don't get it. Really really fast, really really tiny.....kinda like a semi-auto .22 mag in a 1911 platform, that you can reload the brass and use common projectiles......
....okay, shit, I may've just talked myself into one. |

44 grains at 2100fps doesn't sound all that impressive to me, or at least like it's a serious step up.. It's not a step up. The performance, even if confirmed, is virtually identical to 45 grain 5.7x28mm bullets by EA; except the design is untested, the grip will be thicker, and the magazine capacity will be smaller by necessity. Quoted:
Holy crap that's moving fast out of a handgun. EA's S4 has been independently chronographed at 2,500+ ft/s from the Five-seveN pistol. |
|
What kind of trajectory are we talking though? 5.7 is a sweet varmint round that shoots pretty flat and accurate for ~150ds. Its like a bigger badder 17HMR that can be loaded into a semi auto without issue.

I've never heard of this round. Is this factory made ammo and does anyone make a firearm chambered in it? TIA.
|
|
Quoted: I'm still waiting for the 338 necked down to 17hmr Fuck it, might as well go to 50bmg necked down to 17hmr. That thing would probably be able to travel back in time! |

The concept reminds me of the .224 BOZ, anyone remember that weird cartridge?

Quoted: It might just be an illusion, but that grip looks fucking huge. Hard to tell from those limited photos, but it looks like a double-stack magazine, and a fat grip to go with it. Single stack with a normal grip I could go for, but I don't like fat-gripped double stack 1911's. |

You'll get a lot more magazine capacity with 5.7x28. 18+1 vs 20+1. I'm not too worried. TR85. |

http://www.dreadgazebo.com/gunporn/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/tokarev353.JPG Ammo is way cheaper. Waaaay, way cheaper. And if you must have a .22, you can make a Timbs round. Tokarev 7.62x25mm brass, sabots, and .223 (either m193 or M855/SS109) projectiles. That would be 55grain or 62 grain projos out of pistol at 2100 FPS! Bitchen! |
