I've got one, only problems I've encountered are magazine issues, run Wilson's or Chip's no problem.

Well, I think I’m going to pull the trigger on the Taurus 1911.  Got him talked down to $275 on it.  Hard to pass that up for a good shooting 1911.

With the way some of you guys are talking, you wouldn’t even take it if it was free.

The PT1911 is not a bad gun. Don't listen to the hive that haven't owned one.

I owned one and they're great for what they are. Never had any of the other Taurus issues with it and I've heard plenty of good reviews.

+1
I've had my PT1911 for two years, several thousand rounds through it and no complaints.

I would take it for $275, and I would take it for free. It's a great deal either way.

Well, I did it.  It was way to good of a deal to pass up.  $275 for it....and he threw in 150rnds of ammo he had for it.  He bought 2 (100rnd) WWB value packs for it when it got it....and ran 50rnds through it.

I'm going to either Duracoat it, or KG Gun-Kote it (is one far better than the other??).

I pulled it all apart, cleaned it good....oiled it, and put it back together. Can't wait to get out and shoot me range beater :D

Congrats on the new blaster, if nothing else it would make for a cheap .22 host!  Slap a conversion on it and don't look back.

I noticed that it's got a goofy firing pin safety on it that makes it kind of tricky to remove the firing pin from the slide. Do any of you guys just take off of that crap off....or is it better to not mess with it?

I'd take it.

Wouldn't keep it, but I'd take it.

I picked one up (in stainless) for ~550, lightly used.  Prior owner had the feed ramp polished already.

Might have been able to get one cheaper, but I'm happy with it.  If something breaks, it's a 1911!  There's a million parts out there to fix it with, and a thousand smiths qualified to work on it.

Frankly, I think it's an excellent value for a 1911.  At $300?  A no brainer.  You could turn around and sell it for more.

You'll love it. The PT1911 isn't a 2k custom job for sure, but mine probably has a couple hundred rounds through it by now with no problems. The PT1911 shitstorms on this site are scientific proof that haters are, in fact, gonna hate.

You did good OP. While I had mine the only problem I had was with the ambi safety. I replaced it with a single sided STI and the gun was perfect. Just .45 was too damn expensive at the time.

I like KG Gunkote. It goes on thin and is durable.

Duracoat goes on thick and can cause parts to bind. Duracoat also chips.

I'd pay $300 for a used Taurus 1911.
