I love British Gangster movies, but not many make it to the big screen here in the US.

The thing about these movies is that they are apparently supposed to be realistic of the british crime scene...

...as such, there is not quite as much gunplay and more "hands on" violence

We all know the Guy Ritchie ones like 'Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels' or 'Snatch', but here are a few

lesser known (to us) flicks I want to share w/ Arfcom...I've seen some others but i forget the names

Rise of the Footsoldier (2007)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0901507/

The Crew (2008)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1071880/

Cass (2008)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0954981/

Harry Brown - Not a ganster movie per se, but it's a mans fight against a gang.

This is England - British skin heads in the 80's.

"shopping" or maybe "the cray twins". with the cray twins you have to get past the fact that the 2 guys playing the twins were in that fag 80s band spandau ballet. appart from that it's a good violent flick about 50s gangsters in London.

Gangster No 1 was kick ass too.

Gomorrah was a good true story but it's Italian.

I just saw "The Heavy". It was a decent British crime flick but a little hard to follow. I will have to look into some of these. I loved Snatch.

I don't know how truly british gangster it is, but it's one of my favorites and they have British accents.

Rock n Rolla.

It's better than Lock Stock, Snatch, and Boondock Saints (the first one), but same type of movie I suppose.

I am going to say

The Italian Job

Which is probably a comedy based on the genre.

No guns, just cricket bats.

The one with Micheal Cain and Benny Hill, not the remake.

Get Carter and The Limey are the best of the genre.

Performance deserves mention just for its weirdness.

XXXX: I've got an idea... Why don't you come 'round for breakfast? I'll squeeze some orange juice and grind some coffee and we can talk about this like adults. How's that sound?

Dragan: Sounds very hospitable.

XXXX: Do you know where I live?

Dragan: No.

XXXX: Well, fuck off then.
Eddie Temple: You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake son.

Loves me some British Gangster movies.

"Revolver" is a Guy Ritchie movie that kinda goes unnoticed, still really good.

Doug, on the other hand, was the most feared man in the London underworld. Luigi Vercotti, a pimp, claims to have seen grown men pull their own heads off rather than speak to Doug – indeed, even Dinsdale feared Doug.
This was largely due to his merciless use of sarcasm, dramatic irony, metaphor, bathos, puns, parody, litotes and satire.
