Apparently they are filming a movie in my hometown currently. Some independent film that supposedly has Edward Norton in it but that may be BS.

http://www.newarkadvocate.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=201012080306

The cast and crew also got into a fight with some locals last Saturday in the town bar. I wasn't there but I heard the bartenders had a bit of trouble breaking it up.

The Matrix movies were filmed here.

I used to live down the road from where they filmed the scene in one of the mission impossible movies where Tom Cruise escapes a castle like place on a motorbike near the water.

Those are the only 2 I remember that people would know easily.  Babe was filmed in my state, but that doesn't say much considering my state makes Texas look small.  Finding Nemo is based on my city

In the very beginning of "Office Space", when the cars are moving in tandem lanes, I was waaaaaaaaaaaay back at the end of that.

I had no idea a movie was being filmed. I was just
WTF!

I was also an extra in The Rookie, part of which was filmed locally. A great grand-daddy Texas thunderstorm drowned out the end of the second day.

I believe the name of the movie was "The White River Kid" with Antonio Banderas and Randy Travis.  It was a really dumb movie, I think it didn't go to the movies, but straight to DVD.  If you've seen it you'll know why.   The church at start of the movie is right down the road from where I grew up,  and the bar scene is a local hangout where me and my buddies spent many nights drinking beer and partying.

I waiting for someone to say, "Deliverance was filmed right down the road from me".

Oh sweet!

Part of Independence Day was filmed in my county. It was the part where Will Smith drags the alien through the desert.
Think you might let us in on what state?

Couple of movies shot in Troy
Ironweed - 1987 Oscar winner starring Jack Nicholson.
The 2002 version of The Time Machine had all of the 1800's scenes shot in downtown.

Albany recently had a bunch of the car chase scenes from The Other Guys shot there.
Also the motorcycle chase scene in Salt. The studio was cool and held a free screening at the Palace theater for anyone who wanted to go.

The Kingdom was filmed at Williams airfield, about 6 miles from where we were living at the time. The freeway chase was filmed on our newly completed loop of freeway as well. And the Safeway (I think) that they used in Raising Arizona is still standing. It's a mexican supermarket now, but the building was right down the road from my grandpa's shop.

Most of "Kingpin"' was filmed in my neighborhood.  Also,

"Night of the living dead" in the same neighborhood.  Tons of others were filmed nearby, or at least had scenes done in the area.  "I Am Number 4" ruined a game of disc golf that I was playing in a park 10 minutes from home.

I normally wouldn't share so much info regarding my location, but I moved not too long ago.

Kingpin for sure.

cities get off easy.

Deep Impact (1998) had a couple scenes filmed on Virginia State Route 234 (bypass) near Manassas before it was opened to traffic. I regularly drive on that same stretch of road every week or two. In the movie it was where the big traffic jam was where the boy finds his lady friend/wife near the end of the movie.

What do you have?

eta: corrected movie title...I meant the dooms day movie, not the Dirty Harry movie.

For the logest time I thought that was independents day.

Some scenes from Tuck Everlasting were filmed in my county. My buddies and I in high school use to jump off the rock ledge to the right of this picture into the hole below. The hole was only about 4ft wide and 8ft deep. If you didnt land in the right spot you would mess yourself up bad on the rock ledge around it.

Navy Seals, with Charlie Sheen was filmed all over here.

In the beginning of the movie, he jumped off the Lesner Bridge.  They played golf at Redwing Golf Course.  The drank at The Ready Room bar outside of NAS Oceana.  (Coincidentally, somebody walked into that bar one time with a shotgun and blew his head off in front of everybody.)

The 1972 movie The Last Detail, starring Jack Nicholson.   The opening scenes were filmed at the Norfolk Naval Station and the Greyhound Bus station in downtown Norfolk.

I live in the Pittsburgh area...they seem to film quite a lot of films here lately, like within a few miles of here...Kingpin and Zak and Miri make a Porno used some sets just up the road from me.

My friend who is a Union Carpenter and works on these sets told me that they give nice tax breaks to studios and that is why so much is being filmed here now.
Anyway, they were filming this, right in front of my bank a few months ago:

Being from Chicago, yeah shitloads.

I saw a good portion of US Marshalls being filmed and was in the record industry when High Fidelity was shot, so I was around.

I remember when they put the ads in the papers for Lucas, Ferris Bueler, Breakfast Club but never went to any.

Am considering joing the stage workers union though.
