Just finished watching the series Plane Resurrection
series doesn't deliver on it's claim to document the restoration of several old warbirds. it does talk about a little bit about their restoration, in an off hand way, but most of the content is about the background and history of that particular type. lots of stories about peoples experiences. very little restoration content. poorly directed, the storyline was all over the place. I think they might have had good intentions from the start, but quickly learned that restorations are not a fast paced project, and keeping things in limbo till things ran their course was too long to wait, so they patched this series together with what they had. |

Like others having a hard time liking The Santa Clarita Diet due to Drew Barrymore. Never really liked her, or thought she was that good of an actress, so that may be coloring my view.
Kind of liking Frontier. Yes there is some derp stuff in it but its a popcorn type frontier rainy day series. Stupid that they have the Landon Liboiron's Michael Smyth character running around with black eye liner. Not sure why they felt the need to do that. |

Frontier: I really liked the first couple of episodes and time went by quick but then it became a little long and drawn out. The ships, guns, and settings seem period correct even though the storyline is fiction. The injuries are fake except the broken leg. The final episode of the season had zero resolution to any of the story lines, which is the biggest disappointment because I was looking for a miniseries and not an ongoing drama.
I would suggest giving it a try. |

I loved that movie when I was young. Flight of the Navigator too (though that won't be found on Netflix). Not a movie (but for content sake), The Magicians Season 1 is on Netflix too. The first few episodes are a bit slow/hard to get into, but then it derails into dark territory pretty quick. If you're into magic, fantasy and that sort of thing, it's kinda like Harry Potter meets Narnia to play the Game of Thrones |

They expend 75% of the fucking filming to explaining the history and myth of the machine, which only the most casual and uninterested viewer would need...then cover almost nothing about the nitty gritty interesting stuff of bringing it back to life, or building it, or working on it. Chef's Table S3 is now out. Watched the first episode, they went bold and outside the box.
I know it has been posted way back, but I watched Primer over the weekend. I immediately wanted to restart it and watch again - it's one of those movies where once you get to the end and have the knowledge, you want to go back and re-watch with this new point of view. A very smart movie - don't watch it while you're dicking around on your iPad or otherwise distracted. Deviation, but for those with Amazon Prime - The Infiltrator is a very well done movie. Bryan Cranston kills it again. I can't remember if I've already posted it, but Avec Eric is a fun nontraditional 'cooking' show. |

The Dawns Here are Quiet is on Amazon Prime. Russian film with English subtitles. More T&A than I had expected.
It is late spring of 1942, and the Great Patriotic War is in full swing. A long way off from the front-line, the Germans make an air landing operation in an attempt to get through to the Kirov railway and the White Sea - the Baltic Sea Canal. The only thing in their way is an anti-aircraft artillery unit of corporal Vaskov and five young women in training. Please turn on captions for English subs. View Quote |

I tried watching Chef's Table. Unless you like very dry, but well shot, documentaries I would skip it. Episodes are about 20 minutes longer then they need to be. I love history and food but they are just talking about the chefs for 90% of it, not too much about the food. Unless someone says the subsequent episodes are better then the first I am going to give it a 1-star review.
For kids and Anime Netflix is going to put out 2 seasons of Little Witch Academia which is a hilarious girl-focused anime that is reminiscent of Harry Potter meets D&D. There are 2 short films already out, I encourage folks to watch them with their kids. |

Also, it's right there in the title - the show is about the story of the chef that created the meals and what led them to where they are. Gratuitous food porn is still included without too much pretentiousness. |

If that's what you're after, the show might not be for you. It really is a series that does more of a bio on the Chef and their history, then a few signature dishes also thrown in during the final third of the show. You might enjoy the episodes with Alex Atala or perhaps Francis Mallmann. They've got interesting backgrounds/lifestyles. |
