just finished this rifle and will be my new hunting rifle: late 40's Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in .270 WCF came with a crappy ugly stock that I sanded down to this version of it. I used to hunt with a late 80's Remington M700 30-06 that has never fired without me pulling the trigger. This one is way more stylish! http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x229/crashburnrepeat/M70%20SuperGrade/IMG_3696.jpg Damn that's beautiful. |

I'd be too concerned about scraping that beauty against a rock or something in the field. Maybe that's why I like the synthetic stocks. |

My gun loved Nosler 165 gr. Partitions and it put their DITD. |

Speedfeed IV stock, 21in full rifled barrel, Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5 scope, also has a 2 shot extention now. It's gotten me 2 deer the last 2 years at 200 yards plus using Remington Coppersolids. That's impressive. What kind of groups can you get at 200? |

Here's my 700 ADL in .30/06 my dad got for me probably 10 years ago now. Scope is a 3-9X Leupold. I painted it last year with a combination of the krylon camo paints using some oak leaves, fern-like stuff, and other natural cover around here. Since the woods are mostly shades of gray during deer season, that was the goal of the color scheme. I know I wouldn't want to lean it up against a tree around here and then walk off from it.
I topped off the krylon camo job with a couple coats of duracoat clear in flat finish and let it cure for a few days before taking it out. So far so good... I've scratched off a few places from it getting banged around in the safe, but I'm happy with it. I had a lot of fun painting the thing... only problem was the bolt. The tolerances are so tight on the bolt that you can't put any paint on it, so unfortunately there's a 1" tall, 3" long shiny thing on the right side of the rifle. more pics: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r235/rob99rt/toys/IMG_6889.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r235/rob99rt/toys/IMG_6896.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r235/rob99rt/toys/IMG_6894.jpg |

Maybe I read my info wrong. Is .223 Remington (5.56x45mm) legal to use for deer hunting in Texas? Is it legal to use a SBR to hunt deer in Texas? Also what about Hog hunting. In Florida if hogs are on private property you can hunt them year round with no permit or restriction on the amount, caliber, capacity, etc... Is Texas the same way? |

You can hunt deer in Texas with ANY centerfire cartridge. SBR is OK, no restrictions on magazine capacity either, but you can't use a suppressor on deer or any other game animal. There are no caliber, capacity, or seasonal restrictions on hogs. You can hunt hogs with a suppressed mini gun from a moving vehicle at night with NVG's and IR designators, and leave them where they fall by the thousand. Hogs are like cockroaches here. |
