Do you know how old the rifle is? Are you looking at the rifle because of the price? I have no personal experience with the A-bolt, so I can't tell you the other differences between it and my A-bolt II. I believe they changed to the A-bolt II in 1993, you can check the particular rifle you are looking at from, Date Your Gun -- How to read your A-Bolt/A-Bolt II bolt action rifle serial number. ( http://www.browning.com/services/dategun/guns/abolt.htm ).
Like I said in the other post regarding Browning rifles, I really like mine. About the trigger, I don't know of anything that would hold a good gunsmith back from adjusting it. My A-bolt II has an incredible trigger, I could not believe how crisp it was, it has no creep at all, it just breaks. I have not measured the trigger weight but it does not bother me and I really don't want to tough it. If I can help you with any other questions about A-bolt's just post it or e-mail me. Good luck.
