I keep seeing Mossbergs and Remingtons being recommended or that some have one and how great they are. Just wondering how anybody felt about the Winchester 1300 and if it is a good shotgun.[shotgun]

I had a 1300 defender and just upgraded to the camp defender with rifle sights and win choke. I had a 590 and a regular 500A but had nothing but reliability and quality problems so I sold them and got the Winchesters and a beretta 390 for birds. I got the 1300 Camp Defender for under $300 new and so far like it better than the mossebergs.

Better than a Mossburg less than a Remmington.

Nice short stroke of pump action for those with short stubby arms.

I love mine (no pistol grip, Defender). It has cycled EVERYTHING perfectly, and the Aguila Mini-shotshells work flawlessly in the 1300 (they point this out on their site). The action is very smooth, you can put a lot of lead in the air very quickly. This is the gun I keep next to my bed at night, not my AR, not my Rem. 870, not anything else. For the money, it is a great gun.

I own a Defender, nice gun. The reason you don’t see more of them, is that there are no many accessories available for it like the others shotguns. It is part of my WTSHTF arsenal along with my .45 acp and my AR15

I carried the 1300 defender in my patrol car when I first started police work. It's a good shooting shotgun. It groups well and was 100% reliable for me. I never had any problems with it. I wouldn't hesitate in saying it's a good shotgun. Although it's just not anywhere as pretty as my Rem 870 marine magnum. Also, the internal parts seem to a bit stronger.

I've had mine for 6 years - never had a problem. Resale on them is poor though, no one wants to buy a used one unless your giving it away.

Buy them to shoot, not to sell. They rock, but sadly there is a paucity of aftermarket accessories available i.e. barrels, etc.

IMHO the 1300 has the smoothest action of the 3 big pump brands. I'd list it as the best hunting shotgun of the 3. It's not as durable as an 870 or 500 though. (I have seen a trigger on one of them break off.)

I have been very happy with my 1300 Defender. No problems. Cheap.

Found a nice 1300 defender with a bunch of acceries[i.e. pistol grip,pistol grip stock,fact.mag extension,2 barrels.....] for sale cheap so I think I would like to read some more on them...BTT [shotgun]

Mine was an ok gun but watch out if your shooting mag shells thru it, it kicks like a mule. All around it is a good inexpensive gun.

I also have a 1300 and have been very happy with it. Used it in a combat course about a year ago and did real well. As for the action, yes, it is very smooth. [shotgun]
