Larger Avatar Choking the board?

The board seems to be slowing down.
A lot of the member’s avatars are rather large files 15k plus????
Just a thought.

Is there an viewing option that turn those off?

I could put a limit on the avatars, but for the most part it would only affect slower connections I would imagine...

There's plugins for most browsers which allow you to toggle graphics on and off for quicker loading and viewing.

I will look into the browser thing.

Right now I’m on a 56K dial up, hope to be cable by the end of the year.

Just as a suggestion, other boards I’ve been on (non-gun) tend to limit the size of
avatars to 50x50 and/or 5k. Some offer the feature of turning off avatars and
other non-essential graphics.

I'm going to address a faster rendering modification to the forums and site to see where we can improve. It wont be as "pretty", but it should help slower people. (Aka Modem guys who are trapped in the 90s!!!)
