<sigh>  Used to be warships didn't need an escort entering/leaving home port.

And speedboats running close alongside usually had at least a couple young ladies flashing the sailors.

Why don't you like titties?

If you're ready to spend well over $1,000 for a camera I can probably put a list together for you. Once you start adding lights/strobes, diopters with macro lenses, a good qualit housing and camera, you're probably looking at at least $2,000. The pay off will be amazing pictures. If your disposable income can handle guns AND underwater photography, by all means do it. :)

Hey divers, any of you lot into underwater photography?

My little XP200 did pretty well in boracay, but I've got the itch for a proper underwater setup that can handle some depth, too.

There was a guy diving on a few of our runs that had a canon something or other in a waterproof housing with some lights. It had interchangeable lenses (underwater changeable, sweet!) and the pictures he was getting were pretty decent for a P&S camera.

Wondering what sort of setups you guys have and looking for ideas.

This. I think I'm going to get a less expensive rig for underwater though. Too much tied up in my big boy camera, and I can't find a housing for my old 10D.

I feel like expanding a bit.

Photography has actually eclipsed gun stuff as a hobby.

I've got a ton invested in cameras already, for above water.

Only makes sense to have a decent underwater setup as well.

The guy I mentioned before had a *cheap* canon point and shoot inside a housing with an external strobe, and he was able to get some pretty good quality images. His eye for photography wasn't all that, but the overall image quality beat the pants off my little xp200.

I'll see what I can find out from my dive buddies. I'll try to get a list of what she's using + some samples of what she's shot.

ETA
Sony RX-100 in a Recsea Housing (Got BlueWater Photo's nod as best compact camera of 2014.)
UWL-04 Fisheye Lens
Bluewater +7 Macro Lens
Sea and Sea YS-D1 Strobes (2)
Light & Motion Sola 1200
The tray and attachment hardware are Ultralight hardware.

http://www.bluewaterphotostore.com/recsea-rx100-ultimate-package is the package my friend initially purchased, and then she upgraded later to a larger tray that could hold two strobes, added the second strobe and the Light&Motion video/spot light.

I left Arizona 17 years ago, but when I first started diving in '86, I dove Mead a couple of times.

It was a haul from home (PHX), but I remember the viz as being great. I'm sure that doesn't help now though. as lake levels are way (scary) down. The ares I've dove, don't have water there anymore, as the lake is down 120 ish feet.

I wonder if that B-29 is within rec limits now? I'd like to dive on it. I know it was restricted by whatever letter agency has jurisdiction, as well as needing a tek ticket and the experience that goes with it to even get to the wreck.

Bream and crappie.  The items are secured against natural forces.  Someone recently stole the guide rope.

Small world!

We make an annual trip to Hot Springs Village, to take the kids to see my folks. We've dove Ouachita a couple times.

Where is the memorial?

Were those recent videos?

Very cool! I have spent a little time in Montgomery County. If someone had a basic understanding of geology, word is they could find some nice deposits of quartz crystals in Lake Ouchita.

I took them Saturday Morning.  Ouachita has a lot of really good dive sites from what I'm told, I want to get a lot of them done this summer.  The memorial is a Blakely Mountain Dam. Just follow the road up, cross the damn, park, hit the bottom of the stairs, and get straight out from the maroon rock with "24" on it, and it's down there.   Adam was from HS, I lived there for awhile, and his wife is from my hometown, we shared a lot of connections. They're about to start a movie about his life. Holler at me when you're down next time and want to go diving.

I know, but it's awesome for off roading. 20 minutes from Ouachita, Superlift Offroad Park.
