I was referred to this thread in the Rimfire & pistol cal thread. Here's what I posted there...
I guess I'll go on record and say "no good reason."
The 10/22 has its own dedicated forum primarily because of the huge aftermarket and mods community. M&P 15-22 is just another 22 variant. I suppose each variant may have its own issues, but I don't see how the site can have a dedicate forum for every "flavor" of rifle there is. There's also some harm in that. Certain issues will be consistent across all .22LR chambered guns... what ammo is working, cleaning practices, accuracy tests, extractor issues, mag lips and that sort of thing. The owner of an M&P 15-22 can gain valuable intel just perusing [the gen ar15 rimfire forum], whereas if they sequester themselves in their own "clubhouse" they may be missing valuable input from the broader realm of .22LR AR15 variants. Just my $0.02. |

Agreed. The M&P15 seems to the standard that others are judged by.

how about a rimfire specific AR subforum? give pistol caliber its own. i don't really see the need for a brand specific forum for these. not really a whole lot to talk about, they are fun and work great

If non an M&P 15-22 sub-forum, then a subforum for all AR-styled .22 rimfires, or maybe all military clone style .22 rimfires.

There already is one.
http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_3/15_Rimfire_and_Pistol_Calibers.html This is why we need a M&P 15-22 subforum. |
