THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Whenever there is one, someone usually states that we should have a subforum due to the growing interest. If there was one I would assume we would have it filled with tutorials, links to deals and products we like, picture threads of our shaving dens and possibly even a blade exchange. I was just wondering if we could get one. That is all. |

I'd hang out at a shaving sub forum.

I would visit such a sub-forum.

I'd visit, but the value of the wetshaving threads that pop up in GD is that they draw more people into the method.
I know that's how I got started with wetshaving.
If these threads were confined to a subforum fewer people might see the light. |

I've never done it before- but seeing this thread reminded me i'd always wanted to try it
So I finally got out the card and ordered the kit I've been eyeing for quite some time now, now that I have the coin (today was pay day )
Damn you GD! |

Another Aye here.
Especially if there were some well written FAQs for people new to wet shaving. Topics pop up in GD every 3 to 6 weeks, and there are a good number of members that could/would give input. |

I'd be up for a sub forum on wet shaving.
There was a thread last spring on how it saved money vs the cartridge razors I'd been using forever. Well, I now own 10 DE safety razors and a couple of high end best badger brushes. So I got seriously misled about saving money. |

You really could get in for just under $40. If you really like it though, chances are that you will have fun trying different stuff. That can get expensive, but it doesn't have to be. |

Yea, that might be fun.
The problem with the dedicated shaving forums that aren't arfcom is that they aren't arfcom. Like Frank Lloyd Wright touring a block of soviet apartment buildings, I see the utility for those forums, but I fail to see any connection to the art we produce. |

Oh god, please tell me there isn't a "the chart" situation for razors Do you want there to be one? You can get into wet shaving for under $20 or so, if you want to. You can find a Lord Tech knock off for under $10, a cheap boar brush for around $5, a cake of VDH or Conk for under $4 and by stealing a cup or bowl from the kitchen you're good to go. You will get a good clean shave with some effort and good technique. Of course then the addiction kicks in and you have a dozen razors and brushes, two dozen different brands of blades (two of which you hate and will never use again even though you bought 100 of each since they were a good deal) 50 soaps and creams which cost you $500 to accumulate. Of course you also own 87 firearms, $5000 dollars in Snap-on tools, 600 cigars, 25 bottles of unopened scotch, 18 bottles of unopened cognac and a six pack of PBR. ![]() |
