OK, I opened it tonight!
Brief thoughts:
Nose: I was expecting to be knocked off my chair with a strong aroma here but I was WRONG. Its amazingly subtle and oh so good... I pick up some sweet vanilla at first and some kind of fruit, almost like a chocolate orange. I can also get a very slight bit of charred wood scent underlying it all, if I take a very deep whiff in the glass.
Taste: Again, this does not drink like a 122 proof whiskey. It feels thick, definitely has heat but in a slow and friendly way. Looongg warmth and "decay" in my mouth and down into my chest. Its tastes like it smells. Flavors are deep and rich, like I imagine drinking a dark old bourbon, sitting by a fire in a dark old cabin should be. If you're a fan of Knob Creek, this strikes me as an older and more refined seasoned veteran grandpa version of it.
After half the glass, I added about 4 drops of water. Lightened it up noticeably, lost some of that "dark richness" I was enjoying. I prefer it without water.
I have to say I like it. Want to try another couple of glasses but I might try and grab a second bottle of this.
