I'll be buying a new bottle of bourbon Friday. So what would the experts here reccomend for my next adventure?

So far my collection is as follows:

Buffalo Trace
Bulliet Rye
Eagle Rare 10
Four Roses Single Barrel
Glenlivet 12
Crown Royal Apple

Ok, sorry if I didn't clarify. The ones I mentioned is what I have on hand already.

So it looks like Bookers and Blanton are mentioned.

I've read the Blantons is from the same distillery as the eagle rare and buffalo trace. Well I guess it's all the buffalo trace distillery.

I think I have seen both at the local stores here.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry, didn't read all your post obviously.

Do you want to try things that are similar to what you have, or would you like to try new and different things?

I guess maybe something slightly different. I plan on buying one or 2 more bottles of bourbon, then try to start on stocking one bottle of scotch per region of Scotland (Island,Islay, highland, etc.).

Here are a few reasonably priced whiskeys that I would recommend.

E H Taylor small batch Bourbon

Russell's Reserve Bourbon

Knob Creek Bourbon and or Rye

W L Weller of any variety if you can find it

I don't see any islay scotch on your "have" list. This is bad. Grab yourself and ardbeg 10 and go to town on it.

William Weller 13 yr if you can find it. Or of course pappy.

This one has gotten thumbs up from my bourbon drinking friends.  I bought it on impulse.  It might only be available at Total Wine.

Then I shall soon have that little problem fixed!

But first I want to add one more variety of American bourbon to my collection.

I picked up some Connemara 12 year single at the duty free in Shannon. I'll let you know how it is.

Considering it's where my mom's side of the family is from I had to buy it.

Perhaps no more truthful words have been said in the long and illustrious history of this site (although I would say Laphroaig 10).  I have to give NavyIS2 props.  The man knows his booze.

Wild Turkey fanboy checking in.  I agree with the Russell's Reserve 10 year and Rare Breed votes.

Blanton's is excellent too.

Another one that doesn't get mentioned much is Henry Mckenna Bottled in Bond. 10 years old and 100 proof, whats not to like about that ?
If I had to choose only 1 bourbon , though , right now it would be 1792, based on its price, availability, and flavor. I like WL Weller, but it would be easier to find a pink unicorn with purple spots where I live than most BT products

Yes, but the man asked for 'whiskey,' not 'whisky.'

Solid choices! Bookers is fantastic, despite the whole scandal bs, and ardbeg 10 is loved for a reason. It is a light citrusy Islay with a great, tobacco rich, peat and a long finish.

Short story.  Beam Suntory decided to get in on the money being made in the premium bourbon market.  They decided to cut production of Booker's by a third and double the price.  No shortage, no increase in age or anything.  Seemed like the only reason was greed.  People had a fit and the decision turned into a public relations disaster.  They reversed the decision.  Goggle "Booker's price increase" for all the bloody details.

That's one heck of a PR disaster.

Thanks to this thread I have lots of thing to buy on my futures list.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Elijah Craig.  A lot of the other recomendations were great though.  You did good with Bookers and Arberg.

Picked up a bottle of Weller Special Reserve today, they were out of Blanton. I'll have to check back again next week.

I'll have to pick up some Elijah Craig eventually. There are so many mentioned that I want to get, will just take time getting them.

Looked at the Woodford Reserve Double Oakes and almost picked it up. Tasted a local brand of doubleoaked bourbon and it was pretty good but expensive for the tiny bottle. So woodford is next.

Was the local stuff Wood Hat?  I'm only five miles from him. He does some cool stuff, but everything seems a little unfinished to me.  I'm sure it's the "compressed" aging in the small barrels that they do.

That's it. The Woodford Double Oaked is much better, smoother more complex flavor with no alcohol burn.

Favorably.

The Buffalo Trace fanboyism is pretty annoying, really. They produce a lot of good bourbons, but so do other distilleries. I originally clicked on this thread to tell you that you were lacking stuff from the Heaven Hill portfolio.
