Nice.  I haven't heard of that one.

As soon as I read the name I thought of those old Keith Stone for Keystone beer commercials.

I'm sure your bourbon is much better than Keystone beer though.

Nice!  I have a bottle of the MM Private Select too. It just hit the PA stores last week.  In fact, they couldn't sell it to me last week (even though it was on the shelf) because it didn't scan in their system yet.  I'm  looking forward to opening it soon.

Yeah, it was a bit of a disappointment.  But they did put it aside for me and called once it got fixed in their system.

Four more for the bunker. Eventually this juice will run out and I plan on having plenty stockpiled for a while.

I would love to be like that with the Weller, but I am unable to find it.  Much cheaper option, and almost as good. Let me know if you have extra or are willing to trade.

Yeah, I'm on a roll lately.  Much to my wife's dismay...

Here's the real bitch of it:  state just opened the lottery for 1 of 8 bottles of Old Rip Van Winkle 25 year @$1899.

I am absolutely dying right now, under threat of castration if I pull that trigger.

I did, however, enter the lottery for a bottle of EH Taylor Four Grain 100 proof.  That was only $80!

I entered for both. Wife gave the ok to do it. Long odds on getting picked. Online the 25yr is selling for over$3k.
Be sure to post up if you get picked.

I got 3 of these today.   Have 1 here with me at the cigar lounge and 2 at home.

It seems that in PA it is getting harder to get.  Most times when the PA web site says a store has it and you go to get it, the website was wrong or they put it aside and are holding it for someone else.  So a store had 8 bottles today and I grabbed 3.  It's good I found these because I was all out.  Now I'm happy again

I have to say yes, but with extreme reservation.

If you are going to use it for mixed drinks you had better put some serious effort into the mixers. The kind of effort that would make Martha Stewart, from about 1996, think you were trying too hard.

I serve a small amount lightly chilled as a pallet cleanser. After a meal, before I serve my best bourbons and cigars. Honestly the packaging helps set the tone as much as the vodka. In that role I find it well worth it. However, cheaper vodkas have worked just fine.

Picked these up today from a local distillery that has a small lounge/store nearby.  They also make a bourbon but were out of bottles at the store.  I like the rye more than the single malt but both were nice.

The single malt is interesting - they finish it with reclaimed wood from barns and old buildings around the county.  (that's kind of a thing around here - very old buildings, barns and even covered bridges)  As the bottle says - some of the wood can be up to 300 years old.

Both are super smooth, not a lot of depth though.  The rye has an interesting little spice on the back end, though.

Bought this totally on a whim.  It's what I guess you'd call "wheaty" in flavor.  Middle of the road, not bad at all and not fantastic.

I still have 2 bottles of the Stagg Jr @ 130 proof.   I think this one @129.5 is the newest release.

I purchased the JD barrel proof because it reviewed well and I was interested in trying it.  It was difficult to spend $65 for JD though .

This will be my first bottle of EH Taylor Small Batch.  I've had it a few times before with friends but this is "my" first bottle.

The tiny bottles are for decoration

It seems that I am the only person buying booze.  Or at least the only one admitting to it .

Anyhow, these showed up on the PA website yesterday.   They were only up for an hour or 2 before they were sold out.  They had a 1 bottle limit on the ETL.  No limit on the RHF.  I only bought 2 RHF, my wallet can only handle so much .  The ETL was 37.99 ea. and the RHF 49.99 ea.

Whoop - here they are:

Alright...  Wife and I went to a special whiskey dinner last night at a local pub.  This was a 4-course meal paired with 4 cocktails made with some form of Knob Creek bourbon or rye.  They also provided two pours of their selected bourbon This dinner was to celebrate the pub's purchase of their first "private select" barrel of Knob Creek.  As part of the ticket price, each person received their own bottle of the bourbon.

The meal was amazing and the bourbon is really, really good.  They picked a great barrel!

It is kinda nice.  But it forces you to check the damned website multiple times a day.  Heck, I even set up a quick check out account with them because the last time RHF hit the web, I had it in my cart but by the time I got all my CC info, address, etc entered it was gone.

That said, most of the really hard to get stuff is processed through a lottery.

My WT RB collection is now complete.

Back around 2013 / 14 ish PA stopped selling WT Rare Breed.   I bought several bottles of the 108.2 proof WT-03RB batch in anticipation of not getting any more.  I was down to my last 2 bottles.

A friend was a few states away on business and picked me up a bottle of the 112 proof  (2014-2016) release and also a few of the 116 proof (2017) release.

I'm very pleased to have more of one of my favorite bourbons re stocked. Here is the family photo.
