A small suggestion - can we remove "Wine" from the title and replace it with "Spirits" or "Booze?"

And, thanks!

We got it! Thanks LSU, and DK for pushing for this as well. And of course thank you @goatboy ! We got some work to do. Lets get some reviewing guides written up and ask for them to be stickied. Then we can all work out some of the bigger threads.

1.) Reviewing thread for spiritis
2.) Reviewing thread for beer
3.) Reviewing thread for wines
4.) Distillery,brewery,vinyard tour pictures and guides
5.) Bottle porn for pictures and collections

anything else people can think of?

Only downside I can see to having, for example, a catch-all "spirits" review thread is that it's going to get pretty cluttered in there and hard to find something if you're looking for it.  Perhaps few unique threads?  Whiskies, tequilas, gins, vodkas, liqueurs, etc?  Not sure if that would get too busy.

I was worried about having too many stickies so was thinking of ways to condense it. We'll see how things go.

Thanks GoatBoy, et al!

If I would have known, I was at two wineries yesterday and could have taken pics!

I was at Leoness Cellars out in Temeculah California on Saturday for a wedding. It was incredible what all of the rain has done out there. Everything was so green. I wonder what it will do to this years grapes though.

How about a sticky for "a hunt list."  I still have yours and Defender3's.  Otherwise, I enjoy the stickies you suggested.

And, thanks for all the help.  Ladies and gentlemen, if someone needs to be thanked for our new subforum, we need to give a hand to NavyIS2.

Actually we are.

After getting a B.S. in Enology many moons ago, I have spent the last 10 years as a commercial winemaker. I now work for a commercial winemaking supply company and provide technical sales support for wineries, cideries, meaderies, etc etc. From harvest to packaging to sensory analysis, I'm your guy

I'm a fermented beverage nerd. But the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know squat. It's a big world out there.

Weird question, but have you gotten a chance to check out charm city meadworks? You mentioned meaderies, so I figured you may have. It is the most fantastically dry, heavily carbonated mead I've ever had (think original sin cider but dryer). If you haven't, I can't recommend it enough.

Sensory analysis is a fancy way of saying "send me wine."

Have not. Not in my "territory"

@ziarifleman

I've sent you wine before!

@LSUTigersfan

Honestly I never could have quessed that this would be my life. I am so blessed to have been around the right people to learn from, and now given this opportunity to try and help when and where I can

Yeah, they can be some alcohol monsters. I'm afraid anything I can get would be stuff you can get anyway.

Are familiar with Seghesio or Saldo Zins?
