Looking hard at the Tudor Pelagos Blue with inhouse movement.  Anyone here have experience with it.  Think this is a much greater bang for buck over Rolex sub for twice the price.  Im not someone who buys shit then later sells it, so resale is a non issue.

Jomashop.com lists it but says 4 - 8 weeks for shipping, so im assuming they have to get one first then ship it.

DavidSW.com has one but i think its used, never done business with them.

Where is a good online place to order.  Dont care about grey market stuff or European warranty etc.

Thanks

I tried a blue and black on at the casino watch shop when I was at Aria last week in Vegas.

Badass watch, however it's thicker than I thought it would be at 14.3mm a non issue for most - but it snagged on my shirt cuffs.

That said, it's a stunning watch and the clasp system is really tits. I liked the black vs the blue as the blue was really really blue (vivid). Some could say it's the ultimate tool watch. The guy at the store had one on an orange / blue nato and it was legit.

Are you wanting to stay in the Tudor / Rolex house or open to Omega offerings?

If so I researched the hell out of titanium offerings and ended up with the Omega 2231.50 as it has the 11mm thickness and the caliber 1120 movement - which anyone can service vs the new co axial movements.

The Pelagos is the best modern diver made, IMHO. The price makes it an absolute no-brainer.

Do it. Post pix.

I just bought an Omega Speedmaster pro, sapphire sandwich a week ago.  I read a thread here about higher end watches and some suggested the Pelagos with in house mvt.  That peaked my interest......so here I am
DavidSw was not willing to budge on his price for the blue Pelagos he has listed at $3375, its used and only has till Sep 17 on the warranty.

I found an authorized dealer down in Dallas that was willing to work with me and went from $4400 to $3795 for a factory warranty on a brand new watch, not grey market.  So im definitely leaning this way for brand new and from an authorized dealer vs grey market online sales.  Basically he's selling me the watch at just a hair over the online guys...Jomas etc.

Im driving down the 140 miles on friday.  I may opt for the black if the blue is too blue.  But i have alot of black watches already and nothing in blue.

Agreed, but the new inhouse MT5612 movement is pretty slick.  I want a watch i can beat on and not fret over little scratch etc.  Not into status symbols, just like well built time pieces.  OH, and I am a "poor man" so there's that...

lol and bullshit, especially now that Tudor is offering a remarkably accurate and robust in-house movement.

There was a time when that statement may have been arguably true. They don't live in big brother Rolex's shadow any more. They have their own brand identity.

I think the Tudor Black Bay and Pelagos set the bar pretty damned high.

Hopefully you were just being sarcastic.

I'm jelly.

Tudor is on my grail watch list, but first I gotta get a Moon watch.

ETA... nobody really cares a half a poop about calibers or movements unless there are important complications.

seriously though,

find a used sub in mint condition.
Insure it.
Wear it daily.

My daily watch is a sub I picked up 15 yrs ago at a pawn shop in brooklyn for 2k.

It's still in great condition, just a bit more 'personalized'.
And it's worth about 3k more than i paid for it on a quick sale. (insurance costs not withstanding).

UPdate, got the Tudor blue pelagos....stunning watch.  Bought new from an AD in Dallas for a good price considering it was in the Galleria.

A week prior i ordered an Omega Speedy sapphire sandwich for wow factor.  Awesome watch

Just placed an order for a 6 month old Rolex Sub no date with warranty good till 5/21.  From David SW.

Here is a wrist shot of the Pelagos.

Anyone have a sub...this is my first Rolex....kinda giddyAttachment Attached File

Thanks.  It's really more impressive in person.  I did an ass ton of research on the new Tudors and they have really broken out lately.  Especially with the new in house movement.  The titanium makes it really nice.  So far in 5 days, its gained 4 seconds.  The new Rolex Sub black dial comes in tomorrow......more to follow.  Ordered from DavidSW.  it was a 10/15 no date model.  Warranty is good till 10/20

Since its my thread.  Here's my first foray into the luxury watches.  Man on the Fucking Moon....though its a sapphire sandwich vs the pure Hesalite crystal.  oh well.  Im mesmerized by staring at the back of this bitch.  Kinda sets off my epilepsy.

Looking at the Movement Pictures, the movement looks just like Tudor just outsourced the Rolex 3135 movement which is a very robust and capable movement from Rolex (which is Tudors Parent company). Since Rolex owns Tudor using the 3135 movement is technically an in-house movement.

I haven't repaired one yet, but I'm just making an educated guess by the pictures.
