This is a test. There should be an embedded image file below, linked to my webhosting site using standard ubbcode "img" tags.

>> HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM
Apparently this site doesn't like the standard ubbcode "img" tags, since the above code only results in a link to the jpg image file, and does not display the picture inline. Note that the picture displays during Preview, but NOT after being Submitted. Truly a mystery, and it seems to affect a sizeable fraction of the posts in the Equipment Exchange as well as the Test Forum.
>> UPDATE
Upon further investigation, it appears that the defect described above is a "feature" recently implemented to prevent members with low posting count from posting image files. Same with the 2000 character limit on posts, both of which are somehow supposed to discourage spammers. However, the number of posts or other criteria for being Fully Enabled is "secret" so new users will have no idea what / when / how they will ever be able to share anything but a Twitter-ish kind of text-only post.
Unfortunately none of this is documented in the many FAQs or ReadMe files on this site, with the net result that newbies may waste many hours trying to figure out what they are doing wrong, or just get discouraged / frustrated / disgusted and leave.
