In October of 1993 I was about seven and a half years out of high school,
I had spent 4 years as an Infantyman in a Ranger Bn,
then had been in college on the GI Bill for about three and a half years and was a Staff Sergeant P in the NG.

I had just scored a 620 Verbal, 700 Quant, and 770 Analytical on the GRE wand would be getting my Bachelor's in Biology/Chemisty in about 7 months.

GRE math section is about as difficult as the SAT I math. Doesn't really give us any info as to how good your math/science skills are.

I'm honestly not sure why grad schools still require the GRE, they hardly look at it anyways

I did worse on Verbal than I thought I would,
But otherwise on the old version these were good scores.

I could join like some 99.5 percentile IQ society where all the babes are.  The plain looking checks with glasses that take off the glasses and their librarian sweater and let their hair down and are total hot 10 chicks.

I wanted to get a Ph.D. In Zoology,
And imagined myself tracking North American canines as I X-country skied around, etc.

Then I saw post docs spending years trying to get positions for less pay and benefits than the janitors.

I ended up with more military time and education.

Was hoping to read amusing posts of others that went a different path, etc. kind of stories.
