Helping my 14 yr old with math doing the trig functions.
Calculated the length of the hypotenuse using Pythagoreum's and then the
cos and inverse cos function.  Answers were pretty close but further apart than I
expected. Did I do something wrong or is this normal.

Used the 3-4-5 triangle as my model to calculate angels and then circle back to lengths.

You are probably a victim of rounding, the angles in the 3-4-5 triangle have an infinite number of digits past the decimal point.  What values were you getting?  Also try doing the the calculations using the values in this image and see how they match up:

Cosine in a 345 triangle is either 0.6 or 0.8, depending on which angle.

InvCos is going be an irrational number.

Round-off error,  ok I can live with that.
Been a looooong time since the trig functions entered my life.
Thanks for the help
