I can't seem to understand this,I reread the chapter a few times and school has been closed on the last few days I have this class due to the weather
so I'm looking for some help.
Here's the problems,

A) Find the mass in atomic mass units of the following
a)  1 O atom,with a mass of 2.66X10^-23g
b)  1 Br atom,with a mass of 1.31X10^22g

B) What is the mass in grams of 6.022X10^23 O atoms of mass 16.00 amu?

Thanks for any help.

JPH2,

The conversion factor that you need to know is 1 amu = 1.66054x10^-24 g

So for question A you would need to divide the masses given by the above conversion to get the mass in amu. (the g will cancel leaving the answer in amu)

For the second part remember that 6.022x10^23 is one mole.  So the question is asking what is the mass of one mole of oxygen atoms?   This time you will multiply the 16 by the conversion to get the mass in grams.
