Looked for the smallest prime factor (the smallest prime number), greater than 10, that would divide evenly into 408.

That turned out to be 17

408 divided by 17 equals 24

Assuming 408 is the area of the pool, 17 is the width so 24 must be the length

From my interpretation of the problem, it is not safe to assume 408 as the area. The problem says the length and widths are factors of 408, not that the pool has an area of 408.

There are many correct answers to this problem.
Width - any prime between 10 and 408 that is a factor of 408
Length - any factor of 408

That is how the problem reads, though I doubt that is how the author intended.

agree but how many factors of 408 are prime?  That number (of factors) is how many different sets of answers there are.  Assuming the pool is a rectangle :)
