I drove out to the country last night to get a view of them. I'm in the Twin Cities, MN area and the Aurora stretched all the way to the Southern sky. It was intense enough to produce some pink and a hint of blue in addition to the usual green. I went out at around 3:30am so I had a the rising crescent moon along with Venus/Aldebaran/Jupiter all in conjunction to maker it even more cool. The Auroral activity level was around 8-9 with occasional spikes to 10 then. Tonight the Auroral oval extends even further south than last night and the activity level has been at a solid 10 most of the day. Should make for some great viewing, even from mid-US states.

Now if only my point-&-shoot camera were better at snapping pics of it.

Not my pic, but this was taken at the same time about an hour 1/2 north from me.

I'm starting to think the Ovation experimental viewing forecast needs a bit more tweaking. Right now it has the view line about 200 miles North of my position yet I'm seeing Aurora directly overhead and even to the South. It's so intense that even in the middle of all the light pollution of the Twin Cities, they can still be plainly seen.

I've been checking but haven't seen anything, a couple states further south than you. Camera and tripod is ready, just no show for me.

It was fun watching the reports roll in. Turns out several sat owners had to power down due to the storm.

I'd love to check them out some time since we don't get them in the south.

I was amazed to find out that they made sounds.

I went North up to around Stacy/Hwy 19.

Using a light pollution map is a huge help in finding places to go.

Minnesota Astronomical Society has an even nicer map linked on their site, but for some reason it's down at the moment.

(If you want to check it later, scroll down to "Petroglyphs Astronomy Links" and click on the "Dark sky" link.

ETA: Here it is.
