I liked Rosengarten, but hes been gone for years.  Alton of course (good eats was good, don't like the other shows), two hot tamales was good on occasion.  Emeril (got tired of the Bam! Thing though).  Haven't watched much any of it though for a while, bored of it I guess.

What Chefs are there left to watch? Ina and Giada may be on during the day, but, like most of Arfcom, I work.

Food Network turned to amateur reality competitions and little else. And don't get me started on the cupcake bullshit.  I miss the days of chefs teaching a dish.

Even AB, who, arguably, produced the greatest cooking show of all time, sorry Julia, has been, since GE went off, a host and little else.

I might tune into a DDD on a Friday night, but why bother?

But favorite?

Other than AB...

Tyler Florence never made it big, but his recipes were consistently good and and he didn't come off as pretentious
Rick Bayless (although a bit annoying)

Martin Yan, yeah, he was awesome, used to watch him when I was a kid, he was on a local PBS station when I was around 12, and I called up, and he answered my question on air! That was cool....

So he's been around for a long time.

My Wife's maiden name is Yan....but absolutely NO RELATION! I figured when I started dating her, "cool, come home to General Tso's chicken, garlic chicken, Mongolian beef", yeah, no, she can hardly cook rice!

I do all the cooking, and I cook way better Chinese than she can...I made my Fathers Day feast...pork and leek dumplings, red braised pork belly, braised short ribs and rice...it was good!

Ming Tsai is great, AB goes without saying...

Anyone remember The Two Fat Ladies? Those two old English broads who rode the motorcycle and side car? They always cracked me up...

Alton Brown
Ruggerio (?) didn't last long, replaced by Mario Batali
Mario Batali (great chef, weird fucking guy)
Ming Tsai (his East Meets West stuff was hit or miss, but that guy makes beautiful food)
Martin Yan
Bobby Flay (ok, maybe he's a douche, but he is a hell of a chef)

maybe I'm just jaded from being in the restaurant industry but these TV personalities that have never in their lives actually worked a line in a restaurant aren't chefs in my book. SOME of them are great cooks, but they aren't chefs.

He's awesome if you're a beginner and need to understand the basics.

Once you've been cooking and learning for a couple of years, you start to see AB has a schtick of taking traditional recipes and doing them with unconventional techniques and ingredients.  And his results aren't always better. He's just trying to make his mark.

Mine is the legendary Magnus Böner. He is clearly special (ed). Here is a sample of some of his amazing work:
Breakfast "Taters
Pad Thai Spam Ramen
Easy Stove Top Mac, and Cheese
Bannock
White Trash Beef Stroganoff

Give him a watch. You will be glad you did.

Just found someone on PBS Create Channel.
Nick Stellino

Just watched a few shows and he seems to be heavy on the drama/flair style.
I like that he takes you through the whole process of each recipe.
Explains and shows technique very well.
The recipes I have seen so far looks very good.
I can only find him over the air and not on cable so I can't DVR his shows.

Sounds like he has been around quite awhile. Not sure how I missed him.

Not really a cooking show but a Youtube channel that I enjoy is Jas.Towsend and sons. The host is Josh Townsend. He cooks recipes from the 17th and 18th centuries. Pretty much period correct methods (according to him) and he talks about the cookbook that the recipe came from. Pretty interesting.
