No guns, no ammo, no measuring device......not good, food looks great though.
You may get a honorable mention ribbon for this but not much more.
Good try!

My kids were at the table, that's why there was no weapons.

The outside was seared and a little dry, but the inside was tender and juicy.  I didn't do any spices.  I just wanted the mesquite taste.

Next time try using apple wood, smoke at 160-170* for about 30min then place in pan with about 1/4"> of apple juice and cover, finish cook at 350* for another 30min.
If you want to seer afterwards then just a couple mins a side.

If you aren't going to use a rub then I strongly recommend using a brine, or better yet, using bone in skin on thighs. You'll get way more flavor out of the meat while not overpowering the mesquite.

Looks kinda dry and unflavored other than smoke....

One suggestion for future. Buy a whole chicken, toss some oil on said chicken, then sprinkle liberally with a dry rub of your choice, preferably one with some brown sugar in it as you have kids who probably like some sweet with their smoke and spice. Toss that concoction on your smoker (very nice by the way) and leave it in there for 2-3 hours on 275-300. Alternatively, if you don't want to fire up the smoker or its raining or just want to keep it simple, toss that thing in the oven on 380 for 1-2 hours depending on how big your bird is.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about on the smoker

or this one done in the oven and thrown in the cooler with aluminum foil and towels to keep it warm until dinner which was 4 hours later and the bird was still steaming

but it all starts here:

This may not be GD. But that's not a dinner pic OP.  This is a dinner pic.

Yeah, I think the gentleman has small kids around hence the lack of weaponry. Do want that Ka-Bar.

I'm going to smoke a whole chicken this weekend.  I'll try again, and arm the kids.

In an official dinner pic you need:

A full table setting with napkins and silverware properly placed on the correct sides.

Next you must have an alcoholic beverage (displaying a good brand helps) unless you are a non-drinker, but you may lose points

Weapons: You must have a handgun, handgun reload, long gun, long gun reload

Misc: Combat knife. Pictures must be of good composition with one overall shot and one showing the inside of the meat to determine how it was cooked. Sometimes I add a nice cigar to my pics but it's more of an option. There is some debate about tape measure and/or stapler

So based on the general requirements you are missing:

-1 Handgun reload
-1 Long gun
-1 Long gun reload
-1 Stapler
-1 Napkin
-1 Unable to determine if beverage is alcoholic
-1 No cut meat pic

Score 3/10

Looks good man. Cooking on the q is always fun and your eating healthy homemade food. Its a win win situation!

Me, I hate chicken now. I had a brain injury a few months ago and now chicken always taste rotten... wierd!

I usually do big steaks like tbones when I grill, or smoke brisket.

Maybe you could try a brisket next!

Cheers!
