You can cold smoke in a cardboard box.  You really don't need an electric smoker. You can make a home made rig for that.

I just got an a Amazing smoker, thing works really good and last for hrs. I think it was $35
Also a got a smoke daddy but haven't tried it yet. I have a little Bradley smoker that I cold smoke on but it's falling apart and ready for the trash |

I use a Masterbuilt 30 inch with a cold smker attachment and the amaze-n-smoker works great and is insulated.

This little gadget works GREAT for cold smoking, you just put it in your BBQ grill or wherever.

Smoke Daddy Big Kahuna. These guys sell Pellet Pro grills.
You can convert any chamber into a cold smoker. I just made an entire pork belly into bacon with mine.
