I am a diabetic.  Every recipe I have had for bake beans is loaded with sugar and is way to sweet for me.  Any good bake bean recipe that is not so frickin sweet?

I use stevia for my sugar needs, but that's a crap shoot with beans.  I know cinnamon is good for blood sugar as are many other spices...

I would experiment with stevia and spices to come up with a glaze that you liked personally.  The beans by themselves could be cooked alone or with pork...  I don't believe meat in of itself is bad for blood sugar.  The beans are "slow release" carbs  but they are still carbs.

This recipe uses splenda, which I belive is more harmful than sugar itself

And this is a paleo substitute that doesn't actually contain beans, so it may not be what you want

What I am looking for is a nice sauce that is not so sweat.  Slightly spicy is fine just not sweet.  Type 2 here. not on injections.  just a pill 2 times a day.

This. Type 1 as well here. I'll gladly take a little more insulin to enjoy some proper baked beans.

My Dr wont let me eat more than 50 carbs a day so I havent had beans in years.
The upside is I'm off all my meds

The once and future beans are great, but hardly diabetic friendly.  Also, they don't need to be cooked as long as the recipe states..

I'm not a diabetic so I don't really know what to look for. I've never made them but have had them a lot, they don't seem sweet to me.
