Never really messed with it, but figured I would give it a try. Worst case I would ditch the idea and make soap.

Found out that it is fantastic for cooking. Imparts a nice beefy favor to what's being cooked.

Anyone else use it?

I use it for frying burgers and browning chuck roasts before braising. I also keep smaltz [chicken fat] for frying eggs and I use it in place of butter in rice recipes. Eggs over easy fried in smaltz are very tasty. The tallow can be used for frying potatoes. McDonalds use to use beef tallow for their fries. They were very good. The whiners amongst us demanded healthier fries and  McDonalds folded. Now their fries are just as bland as all the other fast food joints.
