Our secretary is on top of things.  He has taken the time to put everything on the computer. He is pretty efficient with everything

Edit: I just posted in a clandestine masons thread.  Will I be expelled now?

I had to get a handwritten card this year because apparently my GL does not have my MM exam date so I never got a card issued (or a bill for that matter)

I payed via paypal and now I have to get my secretary to get in touch with GL and straighten things out.

As far as the state is concerned, I'm not a master mason in good standing?

What ticks me off is that I am told by my secretary that the state has my dates. The state is saying they do not. I'm going to send a copy of my dues cards to the grand secretary and see if it kicks back to my lodge. I cannot log into my GL's website because my member number does not match any records they have.

To top it all off, I am an officer of the lodge. Wouldn't the state check the names sent to GL so everything jives?

Edited: My lodge is regular and constituted under the GL of NJ so its not like I joined a clandie lodge.

Brother OP you are not Clandestine, you may not be in good standing, even that is questionable.

Correct. The correct term is "Mason at Large". Not in good standing with your home Lodge.

That's good to know. What then makes one a clandestine one? Somebody ejected / forced out?

I called, talked with secretary / treasurer, and got things cleared. Canceling another check, and sending again.

USPS in Minneapolis is abysmal!  Payment never arrived!

Co-masons, Prince Hall (in some jurisdictions) and any of the several traditionally black lodges.... Trayvon Martin's dad is a clandestinely made Mason.

Essentially, any Lodge or Grand Lodge that doesn't have recognition of your Grand Lodge and/or the Grand Lodge of England is considered to be clandestine.  Recognition can come and go depending on the circumstances. There are around 4 Grand Lodges of France that have from time to time been the "it" Lodge.

If you were made a Mason in the Blue Lodge of your state that has Grand Lodge of England recognition, then you aren't clandestine despite being current on your dues. If you go off the reservation, however....

This is one of the reasons I love my Perpetual Membership.  No more dues to be paid, just wait for my dues card to be handed to me

A Clandestine is a man made a mason in any lodge not recognised by the Grand Jurisdiction under which you labor.

In our Lodge, if a Brother is unable to pay his dues, we pass the Master's hat.  No Mason should ever be suspended because he can't afford his dues.

this, i am working on that now. 600.00 and never pay dues again

Our perpetual is based on (local dues  + per capita) x a factor based on age (x20 on the youngest end to x15 on the oldest).  Right now a perpetual membership for an 18-33 year old in my lodge would be $1,480.  For a 61+ $1,110.

Local lodges get a credit back from their per capital payment every year for the local dues.  So, my lodge will be receiving my dues after I'm dead. In perpetuity.

I would send it to grand lodge and explain how you wanted to send it to a responsible party so that it was directed accordingly. Maybe a simple letter from GL will get to master to rattle the secretary.

Our treasurer recently told me that members have until June to pay dues before losing their good standing. But yes, it does seem that taking payment and sending out cards is becoming less of a priority.

My dad is secretary of our lodge, so when I was raised, I purchased an endowment on his request. $500 well spent and I never worry about dues. I just need to buy one for the shrine now.

Serious question, what do people do as a Mason? What is so special about it? I had a former manager that was a Mason and was very serious about it.

We have a paypal for dues and donations. I do like the 12 month idea though. I will have to bring it up in open Lodge.
