As the title says, I'm looknig for a die cut square and compass decal to put on an A2 stock. I did Google it and found a few, but I'd rather buy one from someone I know to be a Brother, versus someone who might just be capitalizing on us.
Anyone have any clue where I could look? |

Just my opinion but I personally don't think that the butt stock of an AR is an appropriate place for the Square and Compass to be displayed, doesn't do much for the image of Masonry...but again that is just my opinion.. |

I had thought about that as well, but here's the conclusion I came to (feel free to tell me if my logic is flawed): We seek more light, seek to improve ourselves in all things, do we not? Shooting for me is my "zen" thing. It's when I think the clearest. Plus aren't we shooting to improve our marksmanship? If I've horribly misunderstood something, feel free to tell me. I'm more than willing to listen, and I do care what my Brothers think. *EDIT* Not that I think about it, I'm the Mason, not the rifle. I agree, it's a bad idea. Nevermind. Thanks for enlightening me. |

My sidearm on duty sports the S&C on the mag plate and my chief has one on his as well. it also is a constant reminder not to act like an ass. |

I've taken an oath to be a soldier of Freedom of Ideas, Freedom of Religion, to be an Impartial Judge / Provost, et al... I'd like some 1911 Grip Panels as a reminder of my obligations. If I ever use those weapons - it's going to be in defense of my life, or that of my family, friends, or loved ones. I have to defend the innocent, and that firearm must be used with the purest of impartiality and my judgement or decision to use it will likely be swift in times of need. Every time I put that deadly weapon on my belt, I want to be reminded of many things... I do NOT want to become complacent about it. I should be reminded: - This is a DEADLY Weapon. - The human life is a fragile and fleeting thing - not to be taken lightly, and death can happen at any time. - That I should be TOLERANT of others and try hard not to Judge. - That if I MUST Judge or Decide the fate of myself or others (in self defense) - It must be done with absolute impartiality, and great weight upon my conscience. - That I should stick up for the weak, and defend the innocent. - That I should help others and fly to the aid of those in need. - That I should act in a manner that De-escalates situations with potential for conflict. - That I should live my life to the fullest - lest it be cut short and end in an untimely manner with regrets of what I ought to have done better. - That I should live my life with Love, Faith, and Reverence to my God above all else. That's why I want a set of 1911 Grips with a specific Cross on one side (Right / Outer), and the S&C, Double Eagle / 32 on the other. |

The S&C has a long history on rifles. I've seen a number of old muzzleloaders with it. It has a history with weapons in general, way back when, it a great many lodges every Mason carried a sword during lodge.

Quoted: Quoted: I have actually thought about have So Mote It Be engraved on my ar dust cover That's a pretty cool idea That would be awesome! Our industry partner, Element Arms, has laser engraved square & compass on oversize AR-15 magazine release buttons. A mag release with S&C, and an ejection port cover with So Mote It Be... That'd kick ass - I'd buy it, and I know a half dozen or so Brothers in my Lodge that bought AR's from us and would probably want that on theirs as well. I know a CNC Laser Engraver that could do this fairly quickly for a pretty low cost too. I work there part time 'for extra income' which usually means I spend almost all of my income with the employee discount! |

How many do we want? We could do a group order of the ejection ports with so mote it be, and if anybody else wants a oversize mag release button we can get those too... TBS, if this is imrpopper advertising, let me know, but element is already an industry partner. i can post pics of the square & compass magazine release tomorrow if you guys would like. The dust cover wont ccost much more than a normal one, but i don t know actual cost yet... Alsoo found a place where I'm gonna probably buy my 1911 grips. |

Man I should have patent that idea All jokes aside, assuming it would be on the outside of the dust cover I would be interested in a couple if you can come up with a price.

striker has approved us for a limited group buy on those!
get us a price brother. can i get so mote it be to display when the dust cover is open with a 32nd SR logo on the outside i think i'd wet myself if that was an option. |
|
I'll put together 3 or 4 design options in AutoCAD, post the pics online here, and we can get a number of how many of the three types of dust covers should be made.
Thanks for getting approval TBS! Your idea is pretty sweet - I'd love one of those too! Originally, I thought of keeping the Outside clear and unmarked... Then having So Mote It Be on the inside and displays when the dust cover is open... However, according to my initial measurements if we choose a font size to fit "So Mote" on one side of the detent, and we pot "It Be!" on the other - there is left-over room on the "It Be" side, so I was thinking of maybe having a very small square & compass logo there if it fits... I like the idea of the 32nd Degree double eagle on the outside, but I'm not sure if the lower banner & "SPES MEA IN DEO EST" will fit or be legible on the exterior. Maybe, but I'm not sure... We could probably do a version with the double eagle & sword in its claws, but I'm not sure about the lower banner, would that be okay? I figure we could do... Option A: So Mote [Detent] It Be [S&C Logo] on the INSIDE & displays only when open. Option B: So Mote [Detent] It Be [S&C Logo] on the OUTSIDE & displays only when closed. Option C (the TBS Option): Same as "Option A" but also has 32nd Degree SR logo on Outside. Option D: Same as "Option A" but also has York Rite Knights Templar (in hoc signo vinces) logo on Outside. What do you guys think? I might be making things too complicated but since things are just in 'concept phase' right now it's better to get lots of ideas and find out what ones are liked the most... From there we can get quantity estimates, and cost estimates. A regular Ejection Port Cover is only $5.75, so the additional cost will just have to cover the design layout, and engraving work with the text and the 2 or 3 symbols we might want added. |

Crappy cell phone pics of the oversize mag release laser engraved with S&C sitting on a POF Billet Lower... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/bannie/ForumPics/2012-03-02_11-58-25_839.jpg They run $19.95 for the laser engraved mag release. The ejection port covers will cost more since there are more letters and symbols... -inuhbad Awesome.....waiting. I really need three of THESE!!!! |
|
Just heard the price for the option C will be around $25 to $30, and we can get square & compass GLOCK back plates for the same price as the link above - just need to know how many to have made... For the 32* SR double eagle thhat has to be programmed into the engraver first, but it can be done... Same with the knights templar YR logo... TBS, should I start a new thread for this with a POLL, or just have people chime in here? I'll narrow down the actual cost closer when we get the design to the engraver, but so far we expect about $25 to $30 for the eject port cover. sorry for bad spelling, grammar - on cell phone.

start a new thread it will be easier to manage. i REALLLLLLLLY like this idea. i am definantly in for a SR right one if it can be done. i may have to order a mag button as well.

Is still available to get in on? I am currently studying and have my MM
degree scheduled for June 14th. A few Brothers have asked if I will build them rifles and this would be a nice touch. If it is still available, I would be interested in Option A. Thanks for any help. Brother Tice |

You could put "From Whence I come" on the dust cover when closed and "So Mote It Be" when open.
