THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT As AR15.com grows, it becomes more and more difficult to keep current with everything that's going on, and the second half of 2010 is shaping up to be our most exciting 6 months ever. We don't want anyone to miss out, and we look forward to your input to make the newsletter useful and successful. We look for everyone's input about what you'd like to see included in it.
The newsletter is meant to keep those who may not be regular visitors updated with what's going on, as well as a chance for us to offer you special promotions, event news, and anything else that's going on. Our first issue is going out to our top 100,000 active site members, but we will be expanding the list in the future so that even non-AR15.com members can subscribe.

Cool, I'll be looking forward to it.
It's amazing how much ARFCOM has grown in the short time I've been here. Keep up the good work!

I hope I make the cut! Any chance to ensure I get it? I certainly don't think I'm one of the more active posters on this site. |

Pretty much anyone who has been active on the site over the past 18 months will get the initial newsletter emailed to their most current email address.
We will be opening up the ability to subscribe via email address sometime today. A website account is not needed for this or to enter into the giveaway, all you need is a subscription (email address signed up to receive the newsletter), to click on a link in the newsletter (at this time i think all links are valid), and you are in! There will also be special promotions, some limited in quantity, tied to each newsletter which are not made public, so don't miss out! |

I like the newsletter (just hit my inbox, literally) but I have one major piece of advice. Can you darken up the text on the next one? The white background of the newsletter kinda washed out the gray test. But, other than that, it's pretty nifty. |

Each one is very selective about what and how they display html and especially css, forcing us to dumb things down for those. This is what the newsletter is SUPPOSED to look like: (no white bg) ![]() Link for your browser to see it correctly: http://media.ar15.com/newsletter/issue1.html |

The newsletter goes out in HTML format and the background should be a dark gray (matches the site). It's a very basic html format to work across the majority of mail clients.
If you let me know the mail client and version, I can try to replicate the problem and see what the issue is. If you want to check your settings to see if you have a default background color which is overwriting the one the newsletter tries to set, that would help too. |

I use gmail, btw, if that helps any. I also use Gmail and it came through with the white background. Difficult to read, but the newsletter was great otherwise. You might consider putting the link to the "online" newsletter in the email somewhere for those of us with these issues. Just a thought. |

Newsletter is a great idea. I got my first one, and have the same comment about the lettering being difficult to read.
FYI: I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.5.10 and Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106... Both exhibit the same problem. Look forward to your next issue! |

It appears that some clients are not displaying the background correctly, particularly if the email is forwarded from one account to another. We'll put some duplicate functionality in the next release to prevent this, as well as a link to the online version, but only those receiving the emailed newsletter, and clicking those links will be eligible for the giveaways. |

I just run firefox 3.6.6, but use gmail with no pop3 client. Does that help? And yes, HTML view is enabled. ETA: Looks like I'm not the only one experiencing the same problem and I see that you've added some different functionality to address it. THAT, is why I am a member here, plus all the good content, good service |

Newsletter looks great
![]() Background was fine for me, using Thunderbird as my Gmail pop3 client. When viewing in Gmail, I get the white background. |

I'm using Firefox to view it on my Yahoo email page & got the white background with gray text. It's no big deal for me though, since I usually highlight as I read so I don't read the same line over & over.
![]() So I have to say it looks good. |
