Basically I'm going to stick a Cold Steel blade on their polypropylene training staff. I'll put a balancing weight on the other end.

So, do I go with this, for a take on a naginata...

Or this one, for a more Chinese feeling weapon (like a kwan dao)?

Growl...ok, I can't get both pictures to load. Second blade in following post. I hope.

That first one could stab in a pinch

So I picked up the bigger blade (honestly, I want both, anyway).

It's a bigger, heavier beast than I was expecting. I think I'm going to buy the Thai machete next, and see if I like it better for a blade-on-a-stick.

One way or another, I'm going to make this work.

I might not go with the Cold Steel training staff. It might be a little too flexible. But I found a place that makes custom hardwood staves and whatnot. They'll do a custom job for me.
