Is it worth a watch? I loved the original one.

I think it's worth watching, yes. I haven't seen it in forever, but I think it would hold up alright.

It definitely could have been better, if there wasn't any Lord of the flies bullshit, but overall it was good.

+1!!!!!!  I remember watching it on TV late at night when I was in college.  It set the hook in me.  I've tried to watch the original but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as the remake.

There wouldn't even be zombie movies worth a damn to watch if not for the original. Considering how old it is, shot in black and white, and their budget, it holds up pretty damn well. That said, the remake isn't half bad.

It's good. Patricia Tallman's Barbara character is nice to watch as she progresses from hysterical damsel into a tougher woman who is thoroughly disgusted with another character's cowardice by the end.
Effects are nice, walkers, I mean, zombies are nice and slow and lumbering. No sudden bursts of speed, and no unlimited ammunition.

I saw this at a theater on Halloween.  I was the only person there. which made it kind of spooky.  I like it although some of the minor characters are silly, the sheriff for instance.

I watched this on TNT in like '93/'94 as an 8-9 year old. I was to young to watch it really, but ever since then I have been hooked!

That part was really the worst part of the whole movie.  I actually liked the rest of it.

Watched it. Kind of meh.

It's truly a remake of the old one. Really nothing else going on in it.

Easy to tell it's not a Aussie or Brit one. Way too many guns.

ETA:
Watched it 2-3 days ago, based off the recommendation from here. I remember it well.

I always enjoyed this one. I remember seeing it on TNT late night. I never forgot it.

Last time I watched it I wondered what my load out would be in 1990.

I know the market has not radically changed but there were not near as many ARs and our local police had just transitioned to autoloaders.

At least from my memory.

Probably a Mossberg pump (500 or 590), a 686, and a machete given the speed of the dead in that movie.

It's worth a watch just out of curiosity. I went and saw it at the theater. The original movie was a lot better and a lot creepier than the re-make. Like a lot of re-makes, it just didn't have the same creepy atmosphere that the original one created. Like the Original The Outer Limits TV series that created a great, creepy atmosphere, which the re-made Showtime Channel cable TV series lacked. Same as the TV series remake of the original The Twilight Zone, which lacked the creepiness that the original generated.
