My bad. |

No, not a dupe at all, the other thread is in GD and this one is forum-specific. I just happened to read it the other day and then remembered it when I saw yours today, thought you might want to see those other comments.
And I am more in your camp on this one, I thought it was a decent movie. |

Book was ok.
Movie was weak. Both were statist oriented, vomit overload. |
Worth watching once IMO. No interest in seeing it again, once was enough.

I've read the book a couple times. I like it much better than the movie.
As usual, the movie didn't really follow the book. Didn't see anything about "The Battle for Yonkers" or about the blind Asian dude that was a zombie kung fu master! |
Ya I don't think you could follow the book in a two hour movie.
Netflix has/had both the movie and unrated version. I want something new to come out, hurry, give me, give me, give me |
I watched it last night. I never rolled my eyes more while watching a movie in my entire life.
I thought the movie was ok to watch but not great. I thought the book sucked, I couldn't even finish it.
I thought the movie was absolute horseshit compared to the book. They didn't even bother with the greatest battle from the book (the battle of Yonkers)...the character in the book, Todd Wainio, does a perfect job narrating the events. I thought for certain that would have been in the movie. Wasn't even mentioned, IIRC. The blind Asian dude was also MIA, and he was a BAMF.
Furthermore, the movie should have been a bit longer. It felt like they were just cramming shit in to make it parallel the book in some fashion (all the different trips to the various countries). |
This. The length of it all is why it would make a truly epic HBO series.
I though it was quite disappointing. I seen it in the Theatre.
TWD is 1000 times better |
The movie was better than the book. Could definitely tell the author had no experience with military firepower, and everything else.
the movie had some plot holes but for the most part the zombies or infected were amazing. It was the first "zombie movie" where the zombies/infected since they were cgi could go all out.
Meaning since there was no care for injury to actual actors the zombies could leap off buildings catch on fire go through windows and what not. Loved the all the mindlessness of them the zombies They were best part of the film. I did hate the virus being able to tell who is sick aspect of it though. Check out some other good zombie films Devils Playground Dead Set (also called Dead set serious) some of my favorite funny zombie movies are Cockneys vs zombies Doghouse Scouts guide to the zombie apocalypse enjoy |

I enjoyed the movie. The effects were great. The mass of zombies attacking in urban areas would be so overwhelming. I think that was well depicted.
The book was eh. |

The movie was 2 hours of the same stuff we've seen from every other zombie flick. The plot was overly simplistic and dumbed down. They should have named it "Every Dan Brown movie based on the book with Zombies". The entire 3rd act at the WHO location was sloppy and ridiculous. Yea you have a room filled with personnel trained and educated in viruses and etc, but retired UN agent Gerry Lane is unknowingly smarter than all of them and the savior. If zombies did not attack terminal or overly sick individuals, I think governments around the world would know this rather quickly into the ordeal. Of course, there would be no movie if that was the case. Even though Max Brooks knows jack all in regards about military and tactics, the book overall was executed very well and it was completely different from what we usually see in the zombie genre. While I didn't enjoy every chapter, I still go back relisten (audio book) to a number of chapters/interviews because how interesting the content was. A mini series would have been the most logical route to take with the novel and I bet Max Brooks could have held out and made it happen instead of going for the easy $$$. |

A mini series would have been awesome. 9 chapters in the book would translate to 9 or 10 hour and a half episodes. Though I believe in the Hollywood offices, there was some concern with not have a "main character/star" to carry the story. This is probably the reason the movie was done the way it was. |

Read the "Arisen" series of books, by Glynn James and Michael Stevens Fuchs, you're into that genre, like I am.....lots of good gun and Spec-ops porn in them. A very addicting series of books, that are well written.
They're free too read on Kindle Unlimited, BTW. |

F Max Brooks. He says we are all murderers. With the NRA as our lobbing group.

I liked the movie. It was action filled and fun to watch. But.... I LOVED the book. I will read it again I'm sure. It should be made into a HBO series so that every short story can have its time in the sun. The Battle of Yonkers would make an epic episode. http://i.movie.as/p/600/9840.jpg View Quote NI. The book deserves a 1 season series, or a mini series focusing on ea chapter. Trying to turn the book into a movie....doesnt flow so good |

WWZ movie was way better than the book for realism (other than the 'cure'), better for mil-stuff, better because it was CGI like someone here mentioned, and because it was MASS SCALE. You never see mass scale stuff whatsoever. It's always a mall, a bar, an office building, an airport terminal, etc. Usually it's in the damn woods.
In that BIG way, WWZ was difference from everything else. Same reason the zombies in RE2 movie are cool. Besides, I've never been to Israel. That was some cool scenery. Think most people are mad that it didn't worry more about who is sleeping with who's wife, etc. The stupid drama the real zombies have come to love on HBO, A&E, Netflix, etc. ETA: besides, don't bite the hand that feeds you. What if the studios all decide that the zombie people are little whiners and can't be pleased. Good luck on us getting anymore high budget zombies movies. |

I was so disappointed with that movie. View Quote Can't see why. The book was a significant amount of bushwah written by a guy with no mil, firearm, etc experience. What were you expecting?? Did you pedestal it? If so, of course it'll fall short. Lol HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT THE SEQUEL. |

I was slightly entertained by this movie. As a far as an apocalyptic movie it was good entertainment. As far as a zombie movie, I thought it sucked royally. They were not zombies. They were more like infected "alive" humans from the movie "28 Days" which some people mistake for being a zombie movie. A zombie is a dead, reanimated corpse. To be reanimated as a zombie they have to die first. And, if they're dead, their circulatory system (as well as all the others) no longer functions and the muscles atrophy and the zombie is unable to move very quickly and is weaker than a live human. Plus, it is a really stupid premise to have the infection process (bite or scratch) take only a few seconds.
