Bass Pro Shop of Orlando is not Second Amendment friendly.  So, I drove over to look at, and perhaps buy, a rifle they advertised. Cash in hand I walked to the turnstiles to enter and there was THE sign.  No firearms past this point!  Oh, they will hold it for you but in the store you have no right. I get that as a store owner they have the right to put in place rules of their choosing. But, as a customer, I can and will shop elsewhere. The manager said, "We don't enforce that." But, people who honor the landowner's sign do not carry into the store.  The irony of it all is that once I complied, I saw a display for shirts that said "Keep calm and carry a gun-always. The NRA."  They actually have an NRA clothes section but I bought nothing from them

Astonishing. Long story, but a late buddy and I went to Cabela's Billings last year strictly as a social thing to get a .22 scope for a rifle dad bought me 45 years ago. We had no ammo on us and brought hard cases...While we are heavy weapons specialists, armorer's, proficient in all types of weapons, they checked the guns at the counter, locked the cases with zip ties, had a store member carry the rifles for us and forbad us to carry them back!! We were courteous and unemotional but rest assured, that reduced our patronage of Cabela's by a large factor. And Cabela's was practically a religion growing up in the north country, just as Gander Mountain, Scheels, REI (back then), etc. A tiny fraction of a percent determines how tens of millions live.....I think not. Not in my America. Too PC, too afraid, too forgetful of personal responsibility.

If they're leasing the store and the sign was put on the shopping center by the landlord there's nothing they can really do about it. If they admitted they don't care and don't enforce it in the store what's the problem?

Mak0 it was a BPS sign. Corporate required it but apparently the current manager has not tried to enforce it. But, if someone trespass notices you applications you complete thereafter may require disclosure of that.  Some may not. But, if asked you must disclose it or file a false application.

Ah ok, you referred to it as "the landowner's sign" so that's why I thought that.

My understanding with that would be so they know you did not steal guns from the store.

If I'm not mistaken, that is primarily for long guns and people bringing in firearms to return/ship/service.  A local Bass Pro has that here but has always been more of a "don't drag your hunting rifle through the store to the gun counter" type sign.

I carry each and every time I walk into The Bass Pro.
I carry as I walk by their $599.99 Gen 3 Glock 19's and their $39.99 Glock magazines.
I carry as I walk by their $17.99 Gen 2 Pmags.
I carry as I walk out empty handed.

I actually like the store for a time killer, and to put my hands on things I may see online.
But they haven't received a dime from me in a long time.

Good to know.  I was going to check out that place, but the GF and I ended up in Sanford for German food and then hit Gander Mountain.   Unless I'm in a real pinch, I can't see myself buying much from places like that.

That's right....unless a pinch....cant compromise with stupid anymore. No more saying: "jeez, don't they know any better?"  Oh yes, they do know.

The BP has a good points program and I've a bought sale rifle from them and when it needed warranty they were great in handling it 100% and they have a .mil discount on some stuff. I prefer to get ammo at Cabellas because they have a .mil discount even on ammo. I refuse to spend a penny at Gander due to attitude, high prices and no .mil discount on anything.
