Yesterday, the Georgia General Assembly adjourned their 2015 legislative session with the defeat of three anti-gun bills and the passage of pro-gun House Bill 492.

HB 492, sponsored by state Representative Rick Jasperse (R-11), is a clean-up bill which clarifies some technical language from last year’s comprehensive pro-gun reform bill, House Bill 60.  HB 492 originally passed in the House of Representatives on March 9 by a 153 to 3 vote, passed in the Senate on March 27 by a 45 to 6 vote and was concurred on in the House on March 31 by a 150 to 15 vote.  HB 492 has been transmitted to Governor Nathan Deal (R) for his expected signature.

Thanks to your phone calls and emails, anti-gun Senate Bill 67, Senate Bill 68 and Senate Bill 73 never advanced out of the Senate Public Safety Committee.  SB 67 would have prohibited the carrying of firearms in all public buildings.  SB 68 would have added a required training component to the application for a weapons carry license, making the process more arduous and unnecessary for law-abiding citizens.  SB 73 would have allowed an individual to be detained by law enforcement for the purpose of investigating whether such individual has a weapons carry license.

NRA thanks you for your active involvement this session.

Thank You!!  Working together....we will prevail!
