Vladimir Putin’s Russia Adopts Concealed Carry

It’s beginning to border on the surreal. We’ve talked to great lengths about the inversion of international influence between the US and Russia. Under President Obama we have seen America’s command of world events sink to an unrecognizable (and quite embarrassing) level, while the Bond villain in the Kremlin has taken control of international conversations. And then, there’s this from the IBTimes:

Russia, which according to official figures has the fifth highest murder rate in the world, has relaxed its gun ownership laws.

This in now way is allowing Russian Citizens to conceal carry firearms.

Have you seen their requirements for ownership? It is not as easy as it sounds.

First, you must apply for a permit to own a shotgun and show good cause to own one. Then you have to own the shotgun for a number of years if you want a rifle. Same with a pistol. It isn't like you can walk into a shop there and buy a fresh AK off the rack. The long gun must be stored disassembled and have the ammunition separate from it.

They are severely limited in their selection of arms.

The pistols in question are less lethal gas/rubber bullet designs. They aren't getting Glock 17s and 33rd mags. If they are permitted to carry a pistol it is one of the less lethal gas/rubber bullet guns.

The only change is allowing the mentioning of "Self Defense" for a permit. They still need to get a permit, pay the fees, etc..

But, they are going in the right direction.

Contrary to some "free" countries that are trying to ban everything by all means (mostly illegally).

So, despite not feeling sympathy for commies I have to admit that the original ones are progressing better than their lame imitators.
