Albuquerque, New Mexico - The second most popular name called during NRA's National Police Shooting Championships awards ceremony last week was that of Douglas Peoble. A deputy for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Peoble has all the promise of the rising star in the competition.

"He's a real good shot," said 2014 NRA Grand Aggregate Champion Robert Vadasz. "We've been training him a little and he's coming along fine."

The top award to for Peobles that night was the non-fired President's Match.

We say non-fired because the President's Match is an aggregate championship using scores from the Distinguished Revolver Championship and the Distinguished Semi-Automatic Pistol Championship. 60 round matches each, the Semi-Auto is shot on day one and Revolver is shot on day two. The course of fire is the same.

Competitors fire 12 shots from 7 yards. After moving back to 25, they fire 6 shots while kneeling, 6 shots left-handed supported, and 6 shots right-handed supported. From the 50 yard line they shoot 6 shots sitting, prone, left-hand supported and right-hand supported. Finally, it's 6 shots standing from the 25.

Along with top scores in the Distinguished Revolver & Semi-Auto Championship, Peoble also ended up with the title of High Sheriff. That's why we choose him as this year's "Guns that Won" series.

Over the next few months, we'll feature each of the six guns Peobles used to win his titles at the 2014 NRA National Police Shooting Championships. Some borrowed, some blued, each have a story and shine of their own.

Until then, raise your glass for Peoble; President's Match Champ.
