Finally waving the white flag on the assault weapons ban

The Center for American Progress is waving a white flag on banning assault weapons in a study out Friday titled “Assault Weapons Revisited.” CAP authors Arkadi Gerney and Chelsea Parsons argue that gun control advocates should quit seeking to prohibit assault weapons like the AR-15 rifle and instead focus their energies on expanding background checks and firearms licensing laws.

They are trying a different way.  It has been proven that stringent licensing and registration lowers overall gun ownership.  Once ownership is low then start banning guns.  That tactic has worked everywhere it has been tired.  

They are in a marathon we are in sprint mode most of the time.

No doubt...but they will adjusting their sights at the moment to try and gain traction with handguns and background checks.
