Houston Safari Club backs Youth Hunter Education Challenge

"The NRA Foundation is grateful for the partnership and continued support of Houston Safari Club. Houston Safari Club's grant will allow the continued growth and enhancement of the YHEC program for the next generation of hunters," stated Wayne Sheets, Executive Director, The NRA Foundation.


The $10,000 grant was provided through HSC's affiliate organization, The American Conservation and Education Society, and will be used to help the further expansion of YHEC’s state- and provincial-level programs by supporting the development of trained volunteer mentors. YHEC draws an estimated 10,000 young hunters annually and has reached more than one million young sportsmen and women since it began in 1985.

“The Youth Hunter Education Challenge simulates hunting conditions that provide the best practical environment for reinforcing and testing a young hunter’s techniques,” said Managing Director of NRA Recreational Programs and Ranges Elizabeth Bush. “Hands-on training in eight skill areas prepares participants in all methods of take and all types of game.”

"We are pleased to provide our support of The NRA Foundation's mission to educate young hunters and train mentors in the areas of outdoor skills and safety training.
