My family just added a little pup last Saturday. She was just weened and is only 7-8 weeks old. A whole whopping pound of doggie cuteness!!

I am not the pet "master of all things", but my wife has had a good many little dogs(but never a yorkie).

After spending all night in her kennel(@7 hours), this morning my wife said her pee was kinda cloudy/white/frothy(best description I can come up with for how she explained it). She only saw it because the pup went on the concrete. She had a normal poop afterward and otherwise seems active and normal. It may have even just been dirt or dust on the concrete since a 1 lb dog doesn't exactly pee a lot at one time, but she did have more volume than other times.

I know my pee is "frothy" in the morning. Is this normal for a little pup after holding her pee so long or is it a sign of something else?

Also, she has been eating canned puppy food and drinking all the water she wants.

The little pup has stole our hearts and I just want to make sure I am doing everything to keep her healthy. Thanks

I wouldn't be concerned but i also wouldn't ask animal medical questions on a firearms board ;)    In female dogs urinary tract infections are fairly common but in a young puppy it can be difficult to differentiate between potty training issues and a UTI.   If you're not sure, have your vet run a urinalysis to rule out a UTI.  Simply put, i would say its normal at this point unless there are other symptoms (changes in color, red/orange, frequency, or smell).

not an expert, but @ 7-8 weeks old, 7 hours is too long for the pup to hold it

vet told us @ 1 hour per month when we got our lab

Cloudy urine usually indicates a UTI.  I would consult a vet.

Still getting some cloudy pee at times.

Taking her to the vet in the morning.

Thanks for the advice. I am amazed at the subforums here on arfcom.

It was a UTI.

She even had a little temp.

Already on antibiotics.

I never considered her holding her pee would cause that. Lesson learned.

Again, thanks for your help.
