My 8 month old mal ran down a greyhound at the park this weekend... I didn't think that was possible.

How fast can Mals run?

avg for an adult male is 38-40 mph for a couple hundred yds.

greys should get about 45.

my guess is that they grey mine was playing with was old.

Damn, that's fast.  My GSD is a 2 year old female, weight about 85 pounds, and can only do about 30.

From what I have read, 30 looks right for GSDs. no question our was way slower. but the GSDs are so much more graceful and regal when they move. Choper looks (and is) clumsey when he walks Jake, our old German Shepard use to just glade around and it didn't look like he was even touching the ground.

And for that reason, I have no idea if you're talking about a malamute, and malinois, or a malcontent.
