THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
So a couple of stray dogs have taken up residence under a pickup behind our front-end shop (found a nice shady spot in this 100*+ weather). They are very skinny and covered in fleas. Took them to the vet last week to get rabies shots and check for heart worms (no heart worms so thats good). Their skin (to my un-trained eye) looks like they have mange but the skin scrapes at the vet came back negative so the vet said its probably just from scratching at the fleas.

We have given them 2 baths so far, one today and one after the vet, with some fancy medicated shampoo the vet gave us. We have given them two antibiotics a day, some stuff for hook worms and heart worm prevention.

Any other ideas to help them gain some weight, clear up their skin, and grow some hair back? They have flea collars right now but Im planning on picking up some flea prevention in the next couple of days.

Should have some pics tomorrow.

Best thing for them is likely love, good food and water. Those 3 things are pretty much all a dog wants.

You may want to use frontline or similar on them to keep the fleas knocked down. Maybe some fish oil for the coat. [gelcaps]

put them on sentenel. Heart, round and other worm protection and will keep fleas and ticks off of them

Well I have some bad news. One of the dogs got hit this morning by some asshole who didn't even slow down. The other one was pretty depressed and spent some time in the office and the rest of the day under a table in the shop not really eating much.

That is, indeed, quite likely to fix everything left after the fleas are gone.

I'm sorry to hear about the one who was hit.

How horrible - people are just awful! The other dog needs lots of love now, poor thing. You are a good person for taking them in.
