It is with such a broken heart that I must say he passed away in my arms last weekend. He was such a wonderful friend and he is surely missed. I don't think you can find a better breed of dog. This is our new 9 week old boxer pup named Silas. Had to get right back on the horse. http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq126/e2cmech/ba0deeca920b848a650a4ecb67b8389c_zps1612c4b3.jpg View Quote Using this again... |

Tank has that , sad, I didn't do it , pull on your heartstring kinda look going How cute :) We lost our Boxer Ernie on the 30th of December.. He had acute Pancreatitis a few times and then it became cronic .. and then started having seizures every day. We had him cremated and now he sits next to my American bulldog. I think Boxers touch you in a way some dogs cant. Once you owned a boxer ,you will understand :) We got a new pup.. ( not a boxer ) I will post him in a new threat .. |

My wife and I like the new cubby pics.
I took George to the park to play disk golf with us last weekend, but I forgot to grab any pics. He couldn't understand why he couldn't chase the frisbees. |

Free entertainment every day! They are awesome a great addition to our family!

Mine are boxer/rott crosses. I call them 'rotten boxes'. Every day something entertains me about these dogs. Last night they went in to the woods behind my house and would not come back before I went to bed. This morning I am greeted by two dogs, with swollen eyes and mud covered faces, with tails wagging on the back porch. They must have spent all night digging in to a creek bank to catch a possum.
They can not understand why I am not letting them in the house to nuzzle me. I had purebreed boxers before these mixed breeds. The Boxers are just heartbreakers. 8 year average lifespan, with cancer being most likely to kill them, make sure you are pro-active on any strange growths or lumps. My vet calls them 'walking tumor mills'... I am hoping these mixed boxer/rotts will been less susceptible to tumors. TRG |

You can see a scar on George's left front paw in the above pics. He had to get a growth surgically removed a few months ago (less than a month after Stella died, talk about stress), and we've been always vigilant for any type of growth. That our biggest concern about him because he is otherwise insanely healthy and fit (particularly compared to how our lab, Stella, was).
Post up some pics. I know you've said at least one of them is always photobombing you. George is the same way. The camera loves him. |

George is about 5.5, and fortunately he hasn't had anything cancerous. They were concerned enough about the one on his front leg enough to chop it out, but he's had a growth in his ear and on his chest as well. A bit worrisome since he's otherwise so healthy.

George is a killer of squirrels, possums, and chickens (remember me posting about my neighbor putting in a chicken coop next door in your garden thread....).

View Quote Eugene only killed one of my chickens. I beat him with the carcass so soundly that Eugene's sister (Mikhail Kalashnikov) were both convinced I was killing him. I think he might have thought the same. He and George would probably like to compare notes on how to kill squirrels. Rabbits are the bane of Eugene's existence. He is too lumbering to catch them. He whines as he runs after them. It is a pitiful sound that he makes. He knows he can't catch them, and he is just begging them to slow down for a minute so he can sniff them, yeah, just sniff them. He weighted in at 22lbs at his last vet appointment, he was 13 weeks then. http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq126/e2cmech/11FBC74D-D6D5-4AF2-AE89-534ABA066C36_zpsvwtqtowc.jpg http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq126/e2cmech/4674F25F-9D77-45A8-ADD4-9FBB6C1FAD41_zpsrqfufrdk.jpg http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq126/e2cmech/2EC7C463-31E8-458A-9673-2CD26DEF2EBA_zps19tk3wlv.jpg View Quote |

Was the ever such a breed of dog where friends, family and neighbors shake their heads and wonder why anyone would have a dog that was such a bunch of problems but on the other hand anyone who has ever lived with one in their family swears they are just the best dogs ever?
