I remember a short story about a guy in modern times who figures out where the three fates live in Greece, and gets there by always taking the hardest path.  He ends up getting the best of them with help from a friend on an orbiting satellite.

I'm thinking it was published in Analog, maybe in the late 80's to mid 90's.  Maybe.  Or in an anthology.

Does anyone else remember this story?
