Can't remember the name of the story.

Believe it also had vanishing foods like in Magic, Inc.

That's what I thought it might be.  You can read a sample of it here:

Maybe I had it mixed up.

Could have sworn it was Heinlein.

Magic followed laws.

The person that was a weretiger had to weigh the same as a tiger and was huge and fat.

Believe the protagonist had the hots for a young lady that ate sundaes,
But it would have been rude to ask if they came from the vanishing menu or were real calories.

Used to know my literature better.

Remember in pre internet late 80s stunning the lit professor as we discussed a Joyce Carol Oates story,
The code numbers on the stranger A. Friend's car did not match a biblical reference (at least counting forward, but did add up to 69.
And the guys boots fit wrong, were there cloven hooves in there?

Now I can't even remember authors and titles.

Too many years of only reading for work and now all rusty getting into reading for fun again.

Weretiger, you're not thinking of The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester are you? Also known as Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright in the UK? Where the main character's face got tattooed like a tiger?

It was the first part of Operation Chaos.

I must have read some when they were stories.

I remembered the alternate WW2 weretiger part and the story on campus.

Library where I grew up had lots of old books.

At some point decades after written he made them into a book with other stories.

At some point I had confused the part with the weretiger as being in Magic Inc. or by Heinlein.

Sadly,
A lot of the SF I grew up reading is getting relegated.

I find it becoming like Wells and Verne was when I was little.
